like i don't understand why people wanted Yandhi when it would have just been rehashed ideas from KSG

I think Yandhi with as much time put into it would have been even better than KSG potentially. Kanye going into that psychedelic, out there direction would have been my dream album. Finished Law of Attraction, Alien, Dream V2 along with some other Uganda crazy out there sounds with those ideas about time and reality just sounds so legendary.

However, I am very happy with the album we got and I respect where Kanye is at. I just hope he can flesh out these ideas about religion some more as he seems a little unsure of how he feels with things and the whole premarital marriage, no swearing stuff worries me if he goes more and more radical in a regressive instead of a progressive direction.

Maybe for the Gunnas of the world, but not for Kanye West

People always find a way to hate on kanye. They are so invested in him and have their own vision on how he should do stuff and then can’t enjoy when he does something different.

Honestly it was some of my favourite visuals from him in a while.

Nick was so selective with the shots and perspectives he picked which made it very powerful to me. Maybe it's an acquired taste tho. He always does amazing work but he really came correct with this, especially once he got past the intro

The music was brilliant as well. That gospel-inspired take on the Street Lights instrumental was insane. The IMAX Versions of the album tracks sounded brilliant too

    Did you see it?

It was amazing, but definitely could have been something epic with more to it like the Runaway film, but a modern day religious version. However, I think his Street Lights performance was absolutely spectacular and hearing Jesus Is Lord in full was worth going to it alone. It made me insanely sad watching people walk out and start talking just as Jesus Is Lord was starting.

Lmao, I know nobody will agree with this hot take, but as much as MBDTF s***s on JiK as an album, as a film JiK was better to me. Obviously a lot of that has to do with Nick Knight's visual execution than the concept itself but still. I got goosebumps multiple times - the close up of the girl singing in the choir, when street lights ended and everyone walked away from the piano, the long shot of Kanye singing Use This Gospel at the end. And actually even tho Runaway attempts a narrative and more themes, JiK's theme is so strong, focused and integral to Ye's career and music that it comes off as a very special project for him.

Yeah runaway is amazing but no one can deny it is amateurish and obvs one of his earlier attempts on a film.

Jik on the other hand much more moving and expertly done with a lot less elements which i find impressive just raw feeling

Watching the forum stream now performance is incredible much better than back in cochella days

However one of them things that sounds better live than in the album and the bareness of atleast the first half the album makes sense in context imo

I think I can answer this. Def Jam was in need of a new Kanye album in the market. But I think they have to deal with this new reality: Sunday Service. He's branded Sunday Service pretty heavy to the people the past few month's.

Def Jam isn't a gospel label but they will entertain Kanye's other passionate project's. I wouldn't be surprised if Ye hand's over Kanye project's & Sunday Service record's.

Kinda sucks for DMX because Ye already did the Gospel move for Def Jam. Maybe if he has a 1000 member choir and some rottweilers barking to jesus.

But really what are choir-band record's currently streaming at? he's going to be king of that.

I would add the Sunday Service drums and horns to the second half of Sunday, without a doubt

It's probably gonna be new music based on Jason white interview. Hopefully we'll get the remaining songs on og tracklist, that would be pretty dope

The Valley is my most anticipated off of that one, but would love to hear Glory. Sadly, Glory does not seem to fit a Sunday Service album at all but The Valley better be on it
