I'm so glad they ditched him for the Russo bros lol
Was very unsure of the switch at first but I'm glad too

What helped them was the fact that they were thinking as a whole team (Joe, Anthony + the writers + Feige + any other producer) While with Whedon it felt like it was him + the producers
If we compare 300 to the rest of Snyder’s filmography and pair that with his philosophical interests, we can conclude that his best creative instincts must lie in anything ancient, epic and mythical yet gritty
Although it was for the best that Snyder wasn’t in the director’s chair for Wonder Woman, his instincts being present in what he brought to the story, along with the setting, was perfect for the material. Patty Jenkins and writers Allen Heinberg and Jason Fuchs (lol) perfectly filtered Snyder’s “voice” while honoring the essence of his action and tonal style, which was also brought to life by cinematographer Matthew Jensen
The sequel to this film needed Zack Snyder’s voice in the story, along with Alan Heinberg and Jason Fuchs (it also didn’t need Patty Jenkins or Geoff Johns on the screenplay/story). He may not work for heroes like Batman and Superman, but he was perfect for ancient heroes like Wonder Woman
I agree with most of this except with Snyder not being suitable for Supes, isn’t he exactly like Wonder Woman in that his origin and mythos plays into ancient themes of divinity and Godliness?
I would argue MoS showed the Snyder had a good grasp of Supes in those terms and the philosophical aspects of the character existing on Earth. I felt MoS was Snyder delving deeper into themes he explored with Dr Manhattan in Watchmen but it was more nuanced and developed since he had more time to flesh it out as it was an origin story whereas in Watchmen he couldn’t devote the same amount of time to Dr. Manhattan. Although that montage is one for the ages.
I liked what he tried to do with Batman in BvS with the nihilistic Batman who eventually overcomes it upon the death of God (Superman) which was very Nietzschean. Although it wasn’t very subtle, as others have pointed out and since we didn’t see Bruce’s descent into darkness (only alluded to at best) it didn’t come across well and clear enough given that it was such a different presentation of Batman compared to those that came before him in other films. Although Zack didn’t stick the landing I commend him for trying to work these things into a blockbuster CBM.

While yes, the mythological aspects of Superman are significant and play right into Snyder’s instincts, the problem is that Snyder can’t seem to reign those aspects in. They need to be reigned in because Superman is very grounded in non-mythological concepts as well. The difference between Superman and Wonder Woman is that Wonder Woman is ancient and mythological nearly through and through

Yes. Also, that despite his powers he still has a very humanic view on people and himself as far as morality and just being
I'm a massive day 1 fan but that's pushing it imo.
Still top 5 easily though
IMO:
1. Batman
2. Spider-Man 2
3. The Dark Knight
4. BvS
5. Endgame
Endgame?
Endgame?
Yeah, I almost feel like infinity war and endgame need to be counted together, but I thought Endgame was one of the most audacious blockbusters ever. I absolutely loved how weird it got and the risks it took with the characters.

Did it really though?

I thought so, it was an extremely original blockbuster.
Killing off the main villain right at the beginning, the time jump, cool changes to major characters (Thor, hulk), the time travel aspect was handled really well. I thought it packed an earned emotional punch that most comic book movies don’t pull off in a really natural way.
It was also a really amazing capstone to a decade of story building. I loved infinity war and I thought Endgame was even better.

I disagree but my dissertation as to why would require a significant amount of flowery words and context that I am incapable of providing at the moment, but it's your opinion I suppose.

Exactly, and this grounds him a lot. To the point you can’t treat him like Jesus
Whats this s*** I'm seeing about Cyborg being written out of dceu
The actor wilding and DC got Hawkman,Static and John Stewart as tokens no Cyborg needed.

His origin is based in that but his actual story is based in being a Kansas boy born from another planet. The mythological aspects even the space parts are dressing for the core story of poor boy tryna do good.
The comparison to Manhattan is why MoS doesn't work and why Snyder wasn't the best to handle Superman.
Manhattan is a worst case Superman by Alan Moore a detached being far removed from people and slipping away. Tryna explore themes of Manhattan an "anti superman" with actual Superman is lile pushing a triangle in a square.
Yeah you can respect the effort but why do it?

What do you mean why do it? It’s his interpretation of Superman. I think that’s a very narrow way to look at how Superman should be presented although you aren’t wrong about “the poor boy trying to do good”. He tried to update it for modern audiences and I don’t mind that. Otherwise we’d get the same rehashed stuff over and over again.
I said he explored themes he did with Manhattan but he didn’t do it in the same manner. I thought that was clear with how he portrayed Clarke’s relationship with his parents, especially his dad. Clarke choosing to save Earth and the conflict with killing Zod.

I agree with this but it’s difficult to tell what Snyder had planned overall since we only got one film. It’s arguable that he may have been working towards that assuming he got more films. But that’s conjecture so I can’t disagree with you. I was interested to see the overall arch had he been able to finish it.
Still not totally feeling how darkseid looks
Was expecting an even higher end version of this
But if the story is decent then it's ok
