There is virtually no reason to see this movie.

If you liked Joker 1, you’ll be disappointed.

If you didn’t like Joker 1, you’ll hate this.

If you like the character of Joker, you’ll be bored out of your mind.

If you don’t like the character of Joker, there isn’t anything that this movie will do to change your mind.

If you like musicals, you’ll be annoyed with how inconsistent and random the musical elements are.

If you don’t like musicals, you’ll be annoyed when a character randomly starts singing every five minutes.

If you like big budget blockbusters, you will fall asleep halfway through this movie.

If you like arthouse films, you will spend this movie’s runtime thinking of more interesting films you could be watching.

Literally who is the audience for this movie man

Dope ideas. I would have definitely enjoyed your version way better lol

Would you have a different ending or keep the OG Ending from 2? With Arthur getting murked by the rando stan.

I’m not sure tbh. I personally don’t think I’d want any ties to Heaths joker. Endings is something I take a while to think about. But that was a quick 2-second write up of what I think would’ve worked better rather than-random jail scene-random jail scene-random musical bit-repeat repeat-trial-random musical-random jail scene-repeat

Is this movie really that bad? Am I wasting my money if I go?

I think frustrating is the best honest way to describe it

What y'all thought of the musical aspect/songs in the movies itt for those who saw it?

He's one of my favorite actors but this man Joaquin couldnt carry a tune/sing at at all. It might have been mid on purpose because of his character but it was not pleasant to listen to imo lol.

Doing a whole musical when your singing voice is mid at best is definitely a choice

Havent seen Walk the Line btw so I don't know if Joaquin is a good singer irl

Tbh that didn’t bug me, I didn’t like how it would kill the momentum when they would just throw in a random musical. The segment in court when he was shooting people and smashing the judges head while singing and dancing, I thought that s\*\*\* was cool and entertaining and would’ve preferred if they did it that way but not as an imagination

2Pac would call Kendrick Lamar out

that is part of what I was getting to with his fanbase too as someone who has read 2Pacs life etc

yes he was imperfect but 2Pac would call parts of Kendrick and his fanbase the f*** out

Many of the Kendrick fans would not respect a true MODERN DAY 2PAC

Man I wanna love this movie so bad just off JP performance alone. I’m mad Todd didn’t give him a better script smh.

Let the first half be Joker running around causing havoc, with a cult-like following, naturally singing and dancing while doing it on some unhinged s*** rather than a musical.

Second half have him get arrested and doing the whole trial thing. Keep his unhinged moments with the accents and all that cus that was great.

Remove Harley Quinn her character was not needed and then remove the random music bits because all that did was kill the momentum anytime the movie faded to black and here comes an imaginary musical bit that serves no purpose to the story.

Phoenix was tearing up the script at every turn

Joaquin def seems to be the perfectionist/ "Mad Genius" Artist type.

Wonder if that rubs some folks in Hollywood the wrong way?

I could definitely see how some people think Joaquin could be kind of a diva lol. He quit that Todd Haynes Gay 1940s Detective movie right before it was about to start filming.

And he quit Split before James McAvoy was cast literally weeks before the movie started filming

It being a musical shot itself in the foot more than anything. Nobody wants to hear showtunes like it's the 50s

Depending on who you ask you might get an opposite opinion, some people think the musical parts are the brightest parts of the film. To me, it’s an extremely dark, gloomy movie that the music numbers only enhance the depression. It’s a weird movie. But there’s gold in there.

Fair enough, plenty of reasons to dislike the film, but a lot of the criticisms are very stupid that I’m seeing online and hearing from people IRL. The same people who pump their chests out and shout IM NOT WATCHING NO GAY ASS MUSICALS then they go see Deadpool and wolverine and sing along to N-Sync in the first 5 minutes. That’s the logic here. But BESIDES that, I think a lot of people are just missing the point in general, mostly because they’re just big mad at the whole thing, too mad to even contemplate what the movie is doing.

lol yeah bro that’s why everyone been trying to expose him these days. And plus him dropping out Todd Haynes new movie recently hasn’t gone over well

I do think a LOT of fans of the first movie have a warped idea of what they want Arthur Fleck to be - a sort of Heath Ledger younger brother - and he’s nothing like that! It’s a completely wrong take, so for Phillips to slap those people in the face with this movie, I thought was brilliant. Joker 1 may have been a great movie, but it was so derivative of Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. Joker 2, however, is extremely unique, and might actually be the better film out the two, all things considered. It’ll be a cult classic in years from now, people will look back at both movies as a masterful double feature from Todd Phillips.

The movie had some balls, and with that comes inevitable hate initially, but with time, this will be a classic.
