no its actually canon I am sorry fammo
This doesn’t prove that it’s canon that it’s Ledger’s Joker
That would make absolutely zero sense whatsoever
Word I mean they even went as far as to showing how he becomes 2 face smh
the mask mirroring the mask from the dark knight and how Joker killed the other jokers in bank heist opening also relevant

I dont think Todd phillips would put his name to something he entirely disagreed with .
Obviously it isnt direct but in some way proxy alt timeline it forms a version close to it yes

What he’s saying is that the inmate at the end becomes the real Joker. That’s obvious, I’m not denying that.
What I’m denying is that, that “real Joker” ends up becoming Heath Ledger’s Joker. That makes no sense at all

so you think all the nods to Heath Joker are just coincidence. it doesnt make sense either way because of harvey dent

I get the ending trying to spoiler it but I think get it
A major reason people are getting mad is that man.
Homage or not its disrespectful to use it like that in anway shape or form

Not “coincidence”, but purposeful homage to an iconic performance as well as a close friend of Joaquin’s in real life. The timelines literally don’t match at all for even a stretch of the imagination to make it line up, not to mention that in Nolan’s trilogy there was no knowledge of any “Joker” before Ledger popped up in-universe

I still don’t understand the whole “I’m not joker”…if there never was a joker until Arthur, wouldn’t that still make him the real joker? Like how can he be a fake version of something that never existed and then that inmate be the real version? Lmao now this ending confusing me even more
What makes it disrespectful?
Heath died man and when the cast of rises announced it on stage that they were doing rises they all broke down crying. Doing any imitation of his joker with the same or similiar lines or backstory really disrespectful and I am so serious

He wasn’t saying “I’m not the Joker, it’s someone else”, he was saying “there is no split personality fantasy that caused me to commit these crimes, it was all me”

Idk if I would call a homage disrespect bro. That’s like saying rappers can’t sample Pac music or any other artist who passed away

I am not the Joker is he is not this character the media has created. He is just a crazy nigga. He isnt a genius. Not a political mastermind. He isnt even the person we see depicted in court zany or singing. He was doing it for some p\*\*\*\* of a woman that wanted a serial killer. Plenty of women are attracted to Ted Bundy say they would f\*\*\* him all this s\*\*\* but truth be told that many just a deranged killer. Think of Dexter or You how women will be like "omg he so hot I love that s\*\*\*scene" but a real deal killer not be the same way. Its about separating fiction ( media) from dark realities
Me trying to do spoiler tags so I can join on y'all discussion while accidentally keep posting the same spoiler itt. Feeling like Just Arthur did in these two movies Damn lol.

There is nothing disrespectful about a homage to one of the most iconic performances in cinematic history. The “Why so serious?” line literally gets referenced all the time

bro they been milking the corpse of Heath Ledger since be for real
He wasn’t saying “I’m not the Joker, it’s someone else”, he was saying “there is no split personality fantasy that caused me to commit these crimes, it was all me”
And that’s how I took it but isn’t the theory of the ending saying “Arthur was never the real joker, all along it was this random inmate who kills him”….lmao or am I misunderstanding yall?

with this ending I disagree

I think he was just saying he’s done with the joker character. He’s done striving for that, keeping up the chaos, riling people up. He accepted the charges and was done being joker
But then his damage was already done, and he was killed by someone directly inspired by him
I think that’s what the ending was doing moreso than it being THE REAL joker twist or a heath ledger twist?
just that it’s just some random guy who was radicalised and inspired by Arthur even after Arthur dropped the act
