Nah this meme doesnt work here
You dont need Amazon s*** lmao. If you s*** on Bezos but still use Amazon products ur kinda a hypocrite
This. I haven't used Amazon in years. A lot of your local shops have online shops as well. I'd rather support the shops that really need it
it does apply
the point is he's trying to be "mr. gotcha" and dismiss any criticism because of arbitrary qualifiers

what's worse is that amazon prime isn't even the reason Bezos has so much wealth in the first place, so pointing it out is a non-starter
you are right though, it's not a necessity
It doesn’t apply because a critic of Amazon is not comparable to a servant working on land that isn’t there’s and has no option otherwise. It’s not even a voluntary transaction in that scenario it’s just slavery basically.
You’re not trapped to a Amazon prime subscription (or using Amazon at all) and you’re also not hurt by foregoing one. If you don’t want Jeff Bezos to get richer why are you using Amazon? You have freedom to choose and not be hurt by using alternatives.
It is a gotcha because you have zero justification to use Amazon if you’re stance is not supporting Jeff Bezos. Anyone who uses Amazon, Uber eats, and other non necessity services cannot complain about worker right related issues in good faith.
Not bullshit.
In just recent times, people have began unlearning things about what it means to be ultra wealthy, far too late for a boycott that would've been more effective 5 years ago.
And super poor people, and a ton of upper middle class who are comfortable enough, simply, do not give a s***.
Major companies have so many consumers and you think boycotting matters. Matter of fact, people DO boycott Amazon and that doesn't change s***. He's gonna make his money off the cheap labor, not the products.
"He's gonna make his money off the cheap labor, not the products."
What if no one buys the products, then what happens
Boycotting effects the boycotter far more than the boycotted. It gives the consumer the feeling of shopping ethically.
In reality, it doesn't change s*** for the owner of the company they're boycotting.
real kings stopped using amazon cause the product selection has been trash for years and going in-store is better

Are you illiterate?
You skipped over the part where I said that people don't care either which way. Everyone who does, would not effect s*** for any major company in a substantial way, and would have to purchase from another, equally as s***ty company.

fr just go to costco u win every time

I believe in people. If people have the will theres a way. Me personality, I dont have a problem with amazon so I dont have the will to boycott but if the masses as a collective did we could make it happen. Thats all im saying, walk the talk

I'm saying, people already do that and are buying from another s***ty company.

Of course no one is trapped to a Prime subscription and TV in general is a privilege, but it's not a gotcha necessarily.
For example, I know people who are lower class who use Prime delivery because it's cheaper than buying the same items from the store, or the stores closest to them do not have the same items. They don't have many options because this is the system we're in.
Another example, many of us make criticisms of social media but still use it. It's not a 'necessity' but that doesn't make criticism of major proponents like Mark Zuckerberg illegitimate. We still use those platforms to organize, protest, receive news on, etc.
Again look at the full comic, it's not just the servitude example that this would apply to. I'm pretty sure we're on the same side of this issue anyways so maybe this is a moot conversation.
edit: I saw that you added that anyone who uses these services can't criticize them in good faith, so maybe we aren't on the same side of this issue
Going by that logic, we're not able to criticize oil companies for polluting the environment in good faith because we all drive cars, when we could walk, bike, use public transit, or carpool
And buy from where? Lol

Thats not true at all. Like i said, you can buy local. A lot of them also sell stuff online

This is not true for every area of the US and every product.
what a vile creature
Lirl
This is not true for every area of the US and every product.
If you want something really niche, i'll gurantee you that there will be a shop for it. For example, if i want a specific type of screwdriver, i am gonna look for an online shop that specializes in that area. It doesn't even have to be local necessarily but there are tons of those specialized shops. They also care about the product they are selling.

No one is saying the criticism isn’t legitimate, what’s right is right.
What I’m saying is that meme stands alone in its context of how it’s posted (by itself). That said also I sincerely doubt Amazon Prime is the best option for a vast majority of people. The US post delivers everywhere for free. You don’t need to spend 100/year, speed of delivery is a luxury. If you choose to use Amazon while also bring critical of it, you value the speed of your delivery over your principles against it.
Also at the same time, Amazon’s pricing/competitive services offered interlinked with how much they spend to operate. This is partly where their growth and dominance come from, they operate very leanly. (They’re cheaper than competitors because they can afford lower pricing of products since they cut expenses elsewhere) Amazon being cheaper isn’t a valid excuse to use it if you’re against it’s business model.
If you don’t think that business model is unethical why are you supporting it with your money and reaping the benefits of labor you deem to be cheap?
It’s a service that has many readily available alternatives. You can’t advocate for ethical money when you think the benefits of an unethical business model are too good to pass up.
Also it’s not a 1:1 you don’t need Amazon services to nearly the same extent you need transportation services
If we’re talking about that, then of course that meme would apply
