This is how I feel, streaming era dominance seems like a bit of a house of cards
why are people acting like future is dropping posthumously itt, let's say streaming era is 2016-present future has dropped like 8 albums in that time
120 million sold records lmao
120 millions singles streamed 😆
Including features, and collaboration albums with super popular artist like drake and releasing a s*** ton of projects.
There you go.
Future never had a moment where people said "ok hes running rap now" and made it his era. This is Lil Baby's era. He the face of his generation

Eh streaming has gone**into hyper driver the last 3 years, physical copies are relics..also his definitive run was in 2015

i was one of them but i only agree with the second part. the first part is some revisionist history s*** over looking the mixtape run + 2015
If it was really his era, drake wouldnt have had the same control he did in 2016 2017 and 2018. There was never a future era. There's a drake era, a wayne era, a 50 era, an em era, pac/big, dmx/jay, snoop/dre, etc. Never a future era. Only a future moment.

It wasn't a bigger song.
Stop acting dumb like streaming hasn't changed the game.
It's close but I think future is more popular than lil baby
He stands out more which makes him more recognizable
DS2 debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 with 151,000 album-equivalent units; it sold 126,000 copies in its first week.
vs
The album (My Turn) debuted atop the Billboard 200 with roughly 197,000 total album-equivalent units and held the No. 1 spot for five nonconsecutive weeks.
As other posters called out not an accurate representation due to change in counting in 2018 and user behaviour.
For context physical album sales FW: DS2 was 126,000 vs 40,000 for My Turn. Billboard changed the rules in 2018 to equate 1250 paid streams to an album vs previous amagalmation which needed 1500 streams.
User behavious makes it near impossible to be sure what sales would be in a world without streaming, but streams are less of an investment by the end user and pay way less then album sales. So its really subjetive how you try measure there impact purely by Billboards stream equivalent sales calculation.
IMO if you was around then you know DS2 was inescapable in a way that probs a little stronger then Baby is for My Turn. Commas, Trap Niggas, Thought It was Drought, Freak Hoe...I just dont see My Turn songs having had the same impact. But again trajectory wise, Baby looks set to have a much bigger peak, I do agree.

Future is not dead and has dropped several projects in the streaming era that didn't do as well as My Turn. S*** WATTBA a collab album with the biggest rapper of all time debuted on Beats1 Radio
love Baby but he hasn't had a run like Monster -> Beast Mode -> 56 Nights -> DS2 yet, but let's see what he cooks up next

I definitely remember how huge Future was in 2015. Honestly I think comparing the two is ridiculous cause of the amount of time Future has been out vs Baby as well as being apart of two different eras.

Future isn't a young artist. He's almost 40.
Different eras and fan bases.
His style isn't as cac-friendly as Lil Baby either.
Stop acting dumb.
