The jazz influence on 4YEO is from TPAB and it’s most obvious with how they both have two jazz spoken word interludes that have similar titles (for free/for sale and she’s mine 1/2). More abstractly TPAB made Cole not care as much for hits on 4YEO and focus on narrative. Then DAMN and KOD are so similar that if you put KOD on and I’m particularly high i’ll actually think i’m listening to DAMN, the similarities with those two are too infinite to list

I feel like you’re just getting hung up on the fact Corn Dinner released 8 months after mAAd city. That was already well underway when gkmc dropped and Cole executed it as originally planned. Then he started making a new album inspired by gkmc
