Means nothing to me tbh. Ofc Kenny's first tour in years is gonna go crazy.
Musically he aint carrying s***.
He’s doing things other artists in his gen aren’t doing
after 5 years & comeback with the highest grossing tour isn’t a small feature
He might not be active as the other 2 but he’s still very much relevant clearly
i like me some bk

i think she can put something out pretty nice if she tightens up on the melodic s***
One of my fav songs from last year
this whole tape still gets spun religiously
Could give a damn about Hip Hop right now. Its dying, the artist don't understand the genre, and move goalpost to accommodate their lack of skill and creativity, cause the fans are the artist and the artist are the fans. Everyone just looks at what the next motherfucker is doing and say "I can do what you do, maybe better", everyone wants to be the successor of the latest trend, thus, the trend never ends.
Most new artist don't even understand what it takes to be a great rapper, and don't care too. Thats why I have 0 faith in the future of Hip Hop, and its collapsing right in front of everyone right this second
The folks in the lab that think adapting The Neptunes and Timbaland and Danja sounds from the 2000s is the move are on the right track…but the execution is all off. They forgot they need to make their own powerful rimshot/repurpose a unique one from a previous decade, ie Young Chop repurposing the 2006 Baby Bend Over snare he got from a drum kit. That’s the first tangible step forward as far as solutions are concerned. And this doesn’t just apply to hiphop but pop and r&b as well if we look at the zeitgeist going forwards
Excuse me if this sounds crazy

Monte Booker the closest these days to embodying what Tim & Neptunes did in the early 00s
His sound just hasn’t popped

He's relevant but is he really carrying the game? Im a huge Kendrick fan. This last album didnt have anywhere near the impact DAMN, TPAB or GKMC had even though it was still a good album
We’re going back to midtempo rhythms. You see it in the hits of every other major US genre, which includes the neighboring r&b, which includes Detroit rap taking off bubbling right under the mainstream. Heck you see it in the female rap hits as of late. It’s time for the mainstream male rappers to catch up - we’re done with the slow trap grooves

!https://youtu.be/I0iLchXF3uc?si=cj2xDX9RHrnP82xS!https://youtu.be/NomGdaA-g0w?si=5_gOx8L2nM-ShKrdthe sonder stuff is phenomenal
it’s the… solo stuff
95% of this post is nostalgia talking.
Especially cause the punchlines was what niggas killed Cole for the MOST for a long time lmfao. Villuminati 1st verse woulda got bro cancelled today lmao.
i always say punchline rap is a volume game lmao any dope punchline rapper will have some terrible bars. but that was cole’s thing and although he had some clunkers, he was also a great rapper bar for bar, and that carried him before he had any success with writing great singles
and i get why the post can seem like it’s influenced by nostalgia but i promise it’s not. i’m really looking at it from the perspective of an artist that’s trying to break in, as someone who really studies everything. i’ll put it like this: can you take all of the attributes i listed and replace those names with mainstream 2020s rappers? and will they actually be as good as or better than the 2010s artists i listed?

I liked f*** the world and a song here and there but I cant really get into his stuff
