The reason theres no big 3/superstar is cause YALL got lazy.
/thread
The general public is like 20% of what drives a superstar
If an artist is lacking musically or barely has any industry backing then they won’t reach superstar status no matter what
Even plants can’t succeed anymore because they’ll get exposed at some point and fall off
Thats what the blogs were genius
Nobody initially though the big 3 (ESPECIALLY Cole) was gonna be the next big thing.
As someone that was there (and still think KRIT is the better artist than Cole), it wasnt black and white as yall history re-writers are making it out to be.
When Jay-Z got him on yeah alot of people thought he was gonna be big.
Again, I'm mostly talkingi about already established artists doing nothing now that they have the opportunity.
Not us having to go find the next superstar somewhere in the f***ing ocean of s***ty rap music on the internet.
Nobody wants bars anymore but they actually do lmao. They just want someone to be able to exist in both worlds like Kendrick Cole and Drake do but that s*** ain't easy or common
what we rlly need is for one of the opium/slayworld type dudes to suddenly level up in terms of bars, bc their s*** already sounds dope, they got the fans, all that keeps them from breaking through is their lyrics. summrs could do it but that's like a 5% chance. lone is my favorite pick, it's like a 20% chance he makes that leap.
basically it's what 21 savage did and look how established he is now
It was quiet for Cole until his 3rd commercial album
Such a f***ing lie, Born sinner sold more than Yeezus first week and they dropped the same day. Bro you're f***ing tripping now. I thought you had a point for a second but cole was absolutely getting shine. His debut was weak but after that Cole has been one of the guys ever since.
What if the next big three is a creative showcase ass nigga but he will never make it cus we only clown those guys

impossible
What if the next big three is a creative showcase ass nigga but he will never make it cus we only clown those guys
I'd love if it was considering there have been actual creatives from ktt to go and do something with their lives.
I tried multiple times to get shine in that section and do something with it but it never pans out.

I would say this a problem too, there's too many people tryna be wannabe critics. But honestly even in the 80s and 90s niggas would call u wack and boo your ass

His last name pisses me off. Idk how to even say that s*** it sounds like an exotic parfait

And no one had any critiques for that album right?
Cmon dawg lmao.
Well for the masses I think that nobody really had to look in the past. We relied on "the machine" to push and present these "next up" artists on a silver platter basically. That's why the XXL freshmen list became what it was. Now because of social media and streaming, "the machine" don't even know what to do and the masses aren't going to look because they've never had to.
This is depressingly true. We're moving into an era where I don't think there'll be any rappers with the quality control, talent, work ethic, vision and longevity of the big 3 anymore. And that's really due to the consumer

Yeah niggas on here lmao.
I literally only hear it talked about as a classic nowadays anywhere else. I don't think it is, but that's how people talk
But the only place I really ever hear people s*** on Cole ever after his debut was on this website specifically.
Just clinging onto it before they all stop making music & hate me if you want but others aren’t making an impact like them. Also has to do with the times music is way different now than before. A bunch of factors really.

Ppl did have to look that’s literally what the blogs were. Ran by people that cared. There were A&Rs who whole job was to look and listen to demos lmfao
Cus these new dudes just ain’t cutting it
All the best rappers are 35+
Crazy that this is true. Old rappers carrying rap literally on their f***ed up backs

And big ghost. And pitchfork.
It was a mixed album (that aint rly aged well) and it wasnt till FHD where it was called an actual classic on 1st listen
The way this forum consumes music is counterproductive to this discussion is anyways. Yall got it.
No new artists (while calling every black artist that doesnt fit your mold of traditional black music “cac music”tho)

Yes but thats my point, it was their job. Rappers got their initial hype from the heads and blogs, A&Rs caught it and then got them onto a bigger platform aka a "machine". Those tactics they used then don't work anymore as explained by people like Dave Free and TDE

Them old niggas that we clown the only ones as of late that actually grew up on the culture and come from a time where we had to respect the craft lol
These new artists that got hyped up realized you dont need talent to go big just virality and a cool aesthetic
I think it was @edumist that noted that half of the niggas that get hyped up on here just look cool or wear leather lol

Big ghost and pitchfork were big to us though as a Kanye fandom and sometimes in the coli. Like most people don't even know who tf big ghost was. And most people now prolly don't even remember pitchfork.
That was always the disconnect with people on certain forums and reality with Cole.
Music nerds would s*** on Cole early in his career but then he'd be selling out shows everywhere and people love that mf to death irl. Most fans love Cole that aren't hardcore into this s***.
