Why are you this fragile over a professor wanting people to let everyone in the class say their pronouns so there's no confusion
I didn't realize I was being fragile. I just think it's f***ing stupid, especially if part of your grade is dependent on it.
Is it a gender studies class? That I could understand.

Would you feel equally as outraged if part of your grade was dependent on introducing yourself to the class and saying your name?

No, but I don't think people should be forced to subscribe to the concept of pronouns if they personally think the way things were a few years ago was an acceptable way to talk to people.
I understand you feel differently about this but not everyone is on board with it. College is supposed to be about freedom of thought and learning not boxing people into the current liberal zeitgeist.
EDIT
If it's a gender studies class, then pronouns are an evolution in the concept of gender studies. I'm not against it in principle, I just don't adhere to it, and I think it's absurd to have part of your grade be based on an idea that has nothing to do with the class.

"should be forced to subscribe to the concept of pronouns"
"not boxing people into the current liberal zeitgeist"
Pronouns are f***ing part of the English language
".... if they personally think the way things were a few years ago was an acceptable way to talk to people."
OK, but the point of introducing the normalization of stating your pronouns is to make society as a whole more acceptable of trans and non-binary people...
So if "the way things were a few years ago" was actually negatively impacting the lives of these groups of marginalized people, I don't think that's really a good excuse. Unless you just don't care about trans people or trans issues in which case this conversation is pointless

I understand what pronouns are.
Applying ones specifically to describe yourself that don't prescribe to traditional male/female roles is a newer concept, one that not everyone cares about nor should have to, and it's not something you should be graded on in a class that has nothing to do with gender.

But you said that you don't care if an introduction where you need to provide your name is graded -- how is your name actually relevant to a class?

What is a part of the grade?
Telling the professor your pronouns is a part of grading??? That's f***ed up tbh
A professor can ask but if a student doesn't want to disclose it, then that's that.
Maybe i'm just being cynical but I've noticed this lately that people do this on social media.
Like a cis gender woman will put "she/her" in her twitter bio. Why do they do this?
I am saying this as a straight, cis gender black man btw
Wtf is cis bro.. that s*** sounds a d*** blister

If people are being introduced in class and someone says "i would rather not be introduced by name" then okay, I won't refer to them by anything, it doesn't matter to me.
EDIT
And I didn't understand your previous question to imply that you would be graded negatively if you didn't stand up and announce your name to the class. I think that situation would be equally absurd.
I have nothing agains trans people I'm just stating my opinion on a hypothetical scenario that I think is insane.

But you said you're outraged by pronouns being part of a grade but not outraged by name being part of a grade. Why?
has there ever actually been a class where part of your grade is dependent on whether or not you introduced your pronouns

Exactly, it's a ridiculous concept.
It's college. You don't even have to go to class if you don't want to you shouldn't be forced to pick a pronoun.

Someone in this thread said that had happened in a class they were in
Wtf is cis bro.. that s*** sounds a d*** blister
Cis is a Latin prefix meaning
on the same side as
This being cis gender means gender being on the same side as your biological s***(if I'm not mistaken)
But you said you're outraged by pronouns being part of a grade but not outraged by name being part of a grade. Why?
Dude I just clarified that I think it would be equally insane if you were graded on whether or not you wanted to stand up in class and say your name or not.
