it's fundamentally impossible for most people to understand what socialism or communism actually refers to in a practical sense because of decades upon decades of colloquial discourse and information removed from the original concept or idea. it's the same with other political terms like "populism" or "fascism" meaning something different colloquially in conversation than in actual sole political philosophy/theory. a lot of people have come to associate terms like "socialism" or "communism" with an ideas melded from a variety of sources or ideas from proclaimed practical applications and commentary rather than the original concept itself. i genuinely think this is why we have to stop use terms that refer to collective umbrellas of ideas and just talk about the underlying practical applications separate from the ideology because otherwise modern political conversation is genuinely completely useless

this is why i always try to explain to ppl in real life what things might look like under socialism as i understand it

Yeah bro you agree with me

I support capitalism but measures to make things better to live like ubi and universal healthcare.

    That's still capitalism

Yeah not saying what I advocate for isn’t capitalism I am just saying the system requires these things to work

We know what it would look like and it would be way worse then it is now for most people and way bigger government in order to work.

Also it will never happen 😌

I highly doubt that tbh (while we are living). Especially if we just talking about the binary of capitalism vs socialism

what do you see happening in the future?

its not a question of belief, i linked you rigorous modeling work that has been validated nearly 50 years after its initial publishing

and this is just one of many indicators that growth is unsustainable.

People think we can just adopt socialism and 'stop growing'

Humans will always desire bigger, better and more of it

Capitalism doesn't create that, it simply models itself around it and harnesses it

why not just support something that you know, makes things much better instead of just applying band aid measures to a system of global inequality

Because we dont live in a utopia, socialism f***s up everywhere it is tried.

Capitalism is good but flawed so we should mitigate the bad and keep the good

    It is true.

All the most prosperous and best to live countries in the world have 2 things in common: capitalism, and welfare

No other country has ever touched them
