This is a wild ass post tbh.
General qualities that lead to a more captivating figure/ leader type like aeshetics of voice or form isn't automatic sexual repression.
My examples are stereotypically masculine qualities like a deep voice or a muscled figure. Masculine. They are sexual/gendered.
The whole argument was about how some men can't assess a female artist without counting the sexual component against her because it ruins this mythical "pure aesthetic" while they fail to recognize the same sexual (masculine) component in male artists.
And your obvious sensitivity is very telling right now lol
i think a more interesting conversation is why exactly female artists get all this s*** and critique for using their bodies to promote and sell their music, when being attractive and having s***appeal is essentially a perennial aspect of any music superstar lmao
literally just about any global act you can think of is attractive in one way another, Prince, Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, Bowie, hell Selena (the Spanish singer) like there’s a thousand examples
i don’t get why it’s such a one sided issue just for women
I think it's because most of these female artists parading around their bodies don't have an ounce of talent musically.
Jimi, Bowie, MJ, Prince were attractive but even they had their controversial moments. And these are literally 4 of the most talented artists ever seen in music. Stop acting like as if the media and the public word of mouth weren't getting upset about Bowie's crossdressing antics or MJ's crotch grabbing. The other thing too is that while these were things they did, it wasn't ALL they did. You don't see Prince half naked in every music video shaking his ass like Ice Spice or Nicki Minaj. He did s*** like that as a one off and it caused controversy even then.
Notice how Doja mostly saw love all across the music world after her first album. Yeah she was selling her body but unlike artists like Nicki, Cardi or Ice Spice who literally blew up with songs like Anaconda, WAP, Munch and dedicate nearly every video to showing off their bodies, Doja actually was displaying musical talent through her videos and her songs (something I can't say any of those other artists have ever done).
I'd say nowadays, men get more in trouble for trying to sexualize themselves than women do. Sam Smith is getting absolutely annihilated for his new direction in a way I haven't seen any woman even come close to receiving since Britney or Madonna.
your obsession with me and your internalized racism should be studied.
you are a grown man pretending to be black on a music forum. you should be locked up and studied

we were just talking about in that doja lamar thread how covertly racist it is to say black people only f*** with “street s***” (or more broadly, music with no substance to it, not to say all street/turn up music can’t incorporate any substance though etc) while white people like music with concepts and thought behind it lmao
seems like it’s a pretty widespread issue with these dudes
Oh brother
proving s*** that don’t need to be proved
Exactly we already know she has the ability to do that s***, just make hits lmao
Label gonna suggest she date a black dude, preferably a rapper
Label gonna suggest she date a regular dude so she can be more relatable (me)
White ppl aren’t the ones saying it tho so how is it racist
Nigga street music has substance to me cause it’s an environment I know
Crazy how buddy said rappers can’t make a rap song with substance unless it’s non-street rap with concepts but niggas again skate past that
it’s 9 AM op. did you brush your teeth before making this thread? make your bed? anything?
it was 6am at that time lil bro
I think Doja can rap but she rapping like G-Eazy on this song
yup that’s what I figured, I’ll pass on this

You didn't see Prince half naked in every music video because that was the 80s, times and what was allowed to be shown were different. Madonna had multiple music videos banned in the 90s and you really think a video of Prince stripping would have even left the set in 85?
Let's not act like the man responsible for parental advisory labels wouldn't have had way more sexualized music videos if given the chance.

Ok fine
You don’t see Drake half naked shaking his ass in every video
Is that a recent enough example?

Nobody wants to see Drake shirtless in a video, probably not even Drake himself. But that’s his choice not to be. How are you gonna say Nicki and Ice have no musical talent because they have sexualized videos yet millions of people stream the audio?
Seems like you just don't like Nicki or Ice and are justifying that because of their video content. Most men refuse to listen to female rap anyway so you’re not really in the minority, let’s not pretend it’s because they sexualize themselves in videos tho.

Nicki and ice ain’t getting nearly as many streams on their s*** as they’re getting watched on video though
They also routinely rely on actual talented artists by featuring on their s*** such as Taylor swift, Bieber, PinkPantheress, Drake, etc to get their hits
