Ehh I disagree with this lol. Netflix has at least 2-4 shows a year that stand out above the rest on their platform. It’s easy to s*** on Netflix, but they’re a volume shooter. HBO is more efficient with their shot selection, but it’s been a decreasing percentage imo.
this is just comparing peak to peak, but ST's last season had more of a budget than S1 of this series, and I feel like the HotD did a bit better production value wise (I could be misremembering those two seasons though)
it'd probably be fairer to compare the two with their middle and lower end shows though.
not giving the show runners any slack per se, but it does seem like HBO was in a position to give D&D whatever they wanted at the time of S7 and S8, and they chose to cut corners
Condal and co seem to actually operate with a pretty tight budget (relatively)
I agree. All accounts I heard were that both HBO and got lazy ass writer were trying to convince them to do more eps per season or even do more seasons bit those 2 f***wits didn't wanna do that or hand over the reins to others so they just rushed thru it so thry could move on to their star wars project (that never got made)
The Battle of the Gullet needs to go hard af (Battle of the B******s/Long Night tier) so yeah I can see how they simply just ran out of money considering all the dragon stuff that needs to be shown too.
it may be to their benefit - with how the reception of this ending went - to start out with some fire too. Give us like a 2 episode all time great battle and then you have some leeway to do some more character dev or whatever comes next

Yeah I hope they kick off with total chaos in literally episode 1

as always, I thought the thread was a really fun time during each ep
we definitely didn't get the level of payoff we deserved with everyone committing to the "Teams" bit and one Team being ultimately ineffective every time they were shown on screen
but we tried!
THANK God I have this shooter season finale left to finish my night after watching this BULL
Just gonna have to forget about this stupid s*** for two years now. If season 3 doesn't have payoff it's done.

They didn't have the budget to do 10 episodes this season. They aren't going to spend the money on a big expensive battle.

read up on the page bro
Dany seemed to have some knowledge of old Targ ways and trafitions
Did she know that only Targs were supposed to be able to ride dragons? I assume that got lost somewhere along the way
I definitely understand the criticism on the pacing, but it doesn't bother me all that much. Hyped for S3
Think they should've at least wrapped up the whole Rhaena trying to get the dragon arc (haven't read the books, no clue what happens) but I did appreciate that they had Daemon actually show allegiance to his Queen instead of keeping that up in the air
The season that never was
The drop in quality from season 1 to season 2 is enormous. It felt like I was watching a completely different show at times
was that supposed to actually be the NK
I feel like it could've just been a general
No reason to just show a general tbh

I remember most here down playing the fact the show runner from season 1 was leaving
damn the reaction to this across the internet is pretty disappointed.
I feel a lot of people were holding in criticism assuming there was a payoff coming, this finale did not do that in any way so now it's all coming out imo
i still think the season was great. the daemon s*** was the only s*** that dragged a bit.
Even thought this was ep was good just not a finale

quote from that reddit thread:
""sources close to the production stressed that the Season 2 episode count trim was story-driven and not a result of HBO cost-cutting."
Season 3 may be greenlit and move into active development soon, rather than waiting for Season 2 to air.""
interesting.
