Be even more glad that Zack was never attached to any project involving Westeros

Do they make physicals of the seasons for this show? Cause if not they should just release a special or an add on episode next year to bridge the gap and give this season more finality
Idk how that would work financially or contractually but they did it with Euphoria so maybe they can figure something out. (I’m aware the Euphoria specials were extremely small scale)
"Showrunner Ryan Condal has previously said the shorter season was to give the season “a good opening and a good ending.” But writer-producer Sara Hess was also quoted in EW as saying the shorter season “wasn’t really our choice.”" - hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/house-of-the-dragon-season-2-finale-reaction-1235965980
I don't think they have any extra material laying around to piece together more exposition tbh

All that’s left to show at the moment is a massive battle lol
And yeah Condal said the original plan was to end the season with a major battle but they didn’t have the budget so it was moved to S3. It sucks but it is what it is. That’s what Sara Hess is referring to.

Dam

I wonder what would make them want to move that battle (I'm assuming it's the naval battle seeing as how that's the only massive thing we're really left with at the end) to S3 if it's already shot
I can't imagine the latter seasons will lack for content with how much stuff that's seemingly had to be cut out or given to other characters (per book readers posts itt)

its really impressive how expensive these episodes are
Highkey don't want Dany to be The Prince That Was Promised
Didn’t her dragon carry her body back to Essos? Presumably back to a Red Temple, so she could be revived?

They haven’t cut anything major. If anything they’ve added a ton of s***. They’re merging Rhaena and Nettles but that’s more of a replacement as Rhaena doesn’t do anything but hang out in the Vale.

Slow motion thrusts and drops of sweat that get the zoom in focus when they fall...in slo mo
Also who/what was that thing Daemon saw at the tree?
Random crackhead getting high off the tree

Unreal, the og got was working with 20 mill per ep. No way this season was even half that
Imagine if this show had the budget that terrible rings of power show on prime did

Lol, on some real s***, I just don't get why Zack thinks "mature" means stuffing your work with tons of gore and a couple of s***scenes.

Lol you think this season cost 10 million to make? Do you know how expensive the dragon cgi is?

Cuz he's still mentally 19 years old and operates on COOL and EDGY

"HBO‘s “House of the Dragon” cost under $20 million per episode to produce its 10-episode first season, which debuts Aug. 21, a source close to production told Variety."
I could def see something like the penultimate episode costing like 30m if S1 was any benchmark

Inflations a b****
yeah I think they could even give the same budget as HBO and it'd still feel second rate
there's just an expectation that we have for HBO products that doesn't exist for Netflix. THIS season, with all of its warts, would be a crowning achievement for virtually any Netflix show
Ehh I disagree with this lol. Netflix has at least 2-4 shows a year that stand out above the rest on their platform. It’s easy to s*** on Netflix, but they’re a volume shooter. HBO is more efficient with their shot selection, but it’s been a decreasing percentage imo.

not giving the show runners any slack per se, but it does seem like HBO was in a position to give D&D whatever they wanted at the time of S7 and S8, and they chose to cut corners
Condal and co seem to actually operate with a pretty tight budget (relatively)

The Battle of the Gullet needs to go hard af (Battle of the B******s/Long Night tier) so yeah I can see how they simply just ran out of money considering all the dragon stuff that needs to be shown too.
