i'm saying!
if you want this to be a set up szn (even though it shouldn't be as you say) then let us know who all the main players will be and their motivations. then you leave it for the viewers to decide who they want to root for. don't need to sugarcoat anything. I feel like they haven't toed that line successfully this season.
I don't think this is an unfair criticism of the show tbf and when people are saying we don't like classic got it irritates me. because we did get that with thrones. we might not agree but we understand.
whats funny is this whole thing could of worked if they actually went the classic thrones route - 10 episodes, episode 9 is the big one whether it be a battle or whatever, and then the aftermath in 1.
some of the decisions still would have been ridiculous from a writing perspective but the pacing would have been way better

i can tell without even looking at the spoilers that they'll try to do a lot in the finale that will possibly feel unearned and undercooked
Then it's gone for over 2 years again
At least we get the Dunk & Egg show to hold us over in 2025.
Really interested to see a trailer for that show

I had no idea this had been greenlit let alone been put into production till now

Yuppp it’s releasing in June next year , with more season planned
So we should never have to worry about a GOT drought for a long time, seems like we’ll get new content every year now

how has it not been boring in some cases? there's been a lack of character development for other characters who we are supposed to care for in the upcoming war. and even out of the big three rhaenyra and daemon have had subpar arcs this season compared to alicent.
just because people are talking in rooms doesn't mean it's back to classic got. there's been no consequences to these conversations. and even more baffling is they don't even have them react to major events that are happening.
market this as teamgreen vs teamblack but the average viewer has no reason to be sympathetic to the green cause if they're not book reader. how is that classic got when we don't have any grey area where we can root for either side?
you felt there was gray area in the original series though? seemed like lannisters were always bad, starks and dany (for the most part) always good

Tyrion was pretty much always good and Jaime post hand chopping was a pretty good guy as well, for the most part

on a individual character basis yea, but it was still very much one team good one team bad.

oh, yeah. same as HotD. people that think the green side are the "good" guys in any way are weird. their whole thing is in the wrong on all accounts.

my fav characters were cersei, littlefinger, varys and olenna tyrell
and even within the lannisters/starks families there are character you both love and despise which is what I was trying to get at
there's none of that in the current series

this is what i mean, they've made the green position untenable, it's awful
I had held off on watching in 2022 because I was still mad at how GoT ended, and I felt dumb for that as soon as I started watching lol. Watched the entire series in the last ~2 weeks

but they were even bigger a******s in the books

but they've made rhaenyra look faultless in the show, in the upcoming war it appears teamblack is the only faction worth supporting
that's terrible imo, i'm intrigued what they're doing with jace and the dragon seeds though

they really havent. at this point in the book she hasnt really even done anything yet. plus this ep (and maybe next
) she shows a darker side.
now if she doesnt pop off into total c*** mode next season i'll agree with you. but so far she's fine.

Team Green's claim to the throne is based on a misunderstanding

some weak s*** fr, should've just owned it and said they knew daemon and them weren't going to let them live with aemond having vhagar
i find myself letting stuff slide in hotd that we would've never let slide in got. the plotlines have so much holes in them and that's not even nitpicking. it's not tight and cohesive as i'd expected given the source material is pretty straightforward.
That's the thing about adaptations: they're at the mercy of whoever is adapting them and how THEY interpret the story. It is what it is at this point
