I also wouldn’t mind if Drake focused on an album in a different way
But I fail to see how serving all those different audiences with one project isn’t a risk in itself. Who else can do that and still have people say that the album is too safe?
drake isn't capable of making anything but tiktok music at this point
Gods Plan is literally the safest music you can possibly create
Maybe until Blinding Lights and this album were made
They literally dragged Adele for doing the big number that she did because she didn’t do 2011 and 2015 numbers on here tho.
Lol if you campare it to her constant sales she did "flop" especially when majority of the sales were physicals. Cds and vinyls like before
Completely disagree, seems like a crazy opinion to me. Weeknd put out an entire album of Rick Astley music
Rick Astley music lmaooo
Lol you have to compare to their previous sales. Beyonce has never sold that well. Think she has more #2 albums than 1s. Dot maybe but at the same time you can't compare the sales climate of then to now
?
All Beyoncé solo albums debuted at #1.
More so than DS4. Not because of the type of music but simply because of the effort that the two have put into their albums. Gunna's seems half-arsed while you can tell Weeknd went all in when creating this one.
I got Zack From the Six to discuss more than numbers
Sales aren’t gonna live forever like the music is.
Hikaru Utada just dropped BAD MODE tonight and that s*** is so well done but if I had to justify it on here you would think the only way I could is if it went no.1 in America first week and beat everyone else’s faves.
There are a bunch of different things to factor in when it comes to sales.
Let the music be great.

Champagne Poetry is tiktok music
its fine if you like tiktok music but don't compare that s*** to actual music

You clearly haven't heard CLB or any of his latest features if you call it Tik Tok music. You're blinded by the hate.
Maybe until Blinding Lights and this album were made
U def trolling but it’s crazy how some ppl think this way. Drake is literally hopping on amateur drake dark trap type beats and phoning in verses and yet his brain dead fans aren’t getting sick of it. If he never got that stripper pregnant he might be the richest rapper ever
Lol if you campare it to her constant sales she did "flop" especially when majority of the sales were physicals. Cds and vinyls like before
But you said it yourself, you can’t compare it to the sales climate of today.
Her physical sales only were higher then a lot of artist’s streaming sales. And physicals count a lot more then streaming.

“I don’t listen to tiktok music, I listen to real music like The Weeknd.”

Wtf do u call way 2 sexy then u dumb b****? Why do u drake fans act so goddamn dense?

isn't that the album with way 2 sexy?
They push the new version of Take my breath and release like 825 remixes he gonna be on the charts for life.
Bet he drop a remix album next week that sell more than this.
That's 🅿️
drake stans mad the weeknd made a more critically acclaimed project than the tiktok stuff they listen to
no one cares about "critical acclaim" they just glorified opinions of old white men
That doesn’t explain the overwhelming success of BL and also The Box. Sure those songs will chart, after all the charts don’t go away because a pandemic started. Those spots have to be filled. My point is those songs did not have a fair chance to compete with BL. Artist basically just had to send a social media post for promo and that’s it. Weeknd had his full promo going for AH leading up to February when the pandemic started. Other artist that year did not have the benefit to gain traction in album promo or tour promotion. A lot of heavy hitters decided not to drop because of that.
To use Drake as an example, that’s why he decided to drop an album full of loosies instead of a full album release like CLB.
it’s no coincidence the only other memorable hit that year was Life Is Good. Which also dropped before the pandemic.
rereading your og post i replied to i realize there was other stuff in there but i'm just gonna say i was off-base because the above was all i was responding to lol i'd have to be following the full convo to understand your point.
