i don’t wanna believe the show will end with resolution, but the way they were talking in sxsw made it seem like there’s gonna be some kind of resolution
only resolution I can predict is Al quitting music. if the series is building to anything, it’s this
Haven’t seen the last 3 episodes of this since ive been moving. Gonna enjoy watching them all on Friday

clark county died
all this time yall tried to kill off Van when the real ghost in this season was

RIP King.
EDIT: Yo. The parallel. Clark advertised for yoohoo, and now Paperboi advertised for "we're all from some hood"
« big writers no no »
pretty sure the show has always challenged what’s a « no no » don’t u think lol
Hmm I don’t think so.
I think it’s still very conventional with its story telling. It’s done things that maybe people havnt been exposed to or has framed them in interesting ways but on a technical standpoint it has had a pretty conventional structure. And that’s not bad. Don’t take my criticism as downplaying the greatness of the show. I’m just saying if those episodes aren’t wrapped up nicely it’s going to look sloppy. Because it feels like it’s being different for the sake of different and not different with a purpose in the way that the previous seasons had felt. The main through line of the season with “the curse of whiteness” is fantastic but also feels like their preaching to a choir because I feel like anyone watching the show and has stayed with it all relatively feel same thing. The message just feels flat. It’s cool it exists and I’m happy for it to exist. But I don’t think anyone watching the show is so tone def to culture that their mind is blown and changes their perception as I think it’s more of a general consensus among it’s audiences. Therefore, that’s why I hope it concludes and is wrapped up in a way that feels rewarding instead of “hey we’re avant-garde”.
Also whats up w the sickness Earn had at the start of this season
My theory is that white people were making him sick. Which if not revealed in a straight forward way but in a subtle way would be hilarious.

Yeah I thought this season was gonna be about a virus because of stephen emphasizing that they wrote it before 2020 but thats funny too
tbh I don’t think the masters thing will be relevant at all in the future. this show is notable for dropping story aspects that would be a huge deal in other shows. we still don’t even know why Earn left college. I def think the whole masters subject will be similar, it’s just something for Al and the audience to ponder on for this one episode. i could be wrong tho
I agree with you. I think this is the end of it and it is true that Paper Boi owns his masters, not like Earn is lyin or anything
As well meaning as Lorraine insisted she was, she took a lot of liberty in assuming everyone around Paperboi didn’t truly care about him.
This wasn’t my favorite episode tbh. A little too abstract for me to understand what it was supposed to mean
really? i thought it was one of the more on-the-nose ones. just the way it got to the point was a lil hectic.
honestly when Earn answered "huh?" i didn't get any suspicion that he was delaying or trying to buy time cause he was lying. dude was just passed out cold on the street for an afternoon and woke up asking for his mother and about the details of his recording contract. i would be taken aback by the questioning too and thinking dude is still disoriented lol but i could see y'all jumping to the other conclusion.

That's kind of the point though. He was content letting other people tell him how to think when he has to figure that s*** out for himself

The guy was just sick. Glover stated at SXSW that they did not bring COVID into the show at all.

not telling the story of earn dropping out makes sense
i enjoyed not knowing but it was implied/ confirmed thru dialogue that it was bc of the fact he had a kid lol
i agree that it may not be as relevant in the show as like this overarching plot point that gets a lot of screen time
but i do think it will cause a tension
the earn leaving college thing is different than this because S2E1 kat williams characters very explicitly foreshadows a family ordeal
i really think that scene was the beginning of something that's been foreshadowed in the back for a long time

oh yes the f*** u will
but get out of this thread tho lol
for ur own sake
Also whats up w the sickness Earn had at the start of this season
just sick i think lol
i love how they said "we wrote this before covid" and we thought it was gonna be some episode about disease but really they had a whole episode in nyc about essential workers and bio politics
lots of caribbean nyc folk died in the pandemic because we really are the working class that keeps nyc running
i think thats the episode that had strongest ties to the convos that came out of pandemic tbh
but thats just my opinion, and we still have some episodes left
oh yes the f*** u will
but get out of this thread tho lol

Yea I been peaking in here occasionally but I’m out lmao
yeah don't know if episode 8 will be topped this season, best main storyline episode by far

Earn dropping out of Princeton.. it was implied that there was an incident that led to him leaving which we still don’t know about. In the first episode, Al repeatedly asked “what happened at Princeton?” but Earn refused to give an answer. him having a kid seemed to happen afterwards
I took the family ordeal Uncle Willy was referencing as foreshadowing/setup to the main conflict of S2, which was friction in Earn and Al’s relationship due to Earn failing in his duties as manager and the presence of Tracy. but that conflict between them was mostly revolved at the end of 2
Earn also mentioned he was still mad at Willy about what happened between him and his mother… another thing we still don’t have the full story on. so in that vein, I just dont see the masters thing coming up again. It’d be cool if it did and I wouldn’t mind being wrong but we’ll just have to see
