    Hmm I don’t think so.
I think it’s still very conventional with its story telling. It’s done things that maybe people havnt been exposed to or has framed them in interesting ways but on a technical standpoint it has had a pretty conventional structure. And that’s not bad. Don’t take my criticism as downplaying the greatness of the show. I’m just saying if those episodes aren’t wrapped up nicely it’s going to look sloppy. Because it feels like it’s being different for the sake of different and not different with a purpose in the way that the previous seasons had felt. The main through line of the season with “the curse of whiteness” is fantastic but also feels like their preaching to a choir because I feel like anyone watching the show and has stayed with it all relatively feel same thing. The message just feels flat. It’s cool it exists and I’m happy for it to exist. But I don’t think anyone watching the show is so tone def to culture that their mind is blown and changes their perception as I think it’s more of a general consensus among it’s audiences. Therefore, that’s why I hope it concludes and is wrapped up in a way that feels rewarding instead of “hey we’re avant-garde”.

    I agree with all this

Episode 8 the most recent and when they show the ATLANTA intro as a sticker when Darius and Al are sitting at a table

next episode looks to be another dope special. in that case, I REALLY hope the finale heavily features Van. I’m still in the dark on her character this season and if they leave me hanging, it’ll be a glaring flaw

Me too, I’ve been checking out a lot of discussion around this episode and people seem to think he was telling the truth when I thought it was obvious he was lying. Like lets’s not forget that when he got Al that deal he wasn’t the competent manager he is today

After watching the second time. He could have totally lied.

agree to disagree because i truly believe the show has a diverse audience and as much as it be may preaching to the choir for the majority of us, it is it without a doubt an eye opener for another (big) part of its audience.

and we’re just talking about americans. i’m in europe rn and showing them the anthology episodes have given them a greater, more nuanced understanding of the states

but given that there’s some spoilers spreading around a certain recurring character in the anthology episodes, the black panther 2 motif, the paper boi posters in trini 2 de bone i have no doubt they will “wrap up” the anthology episodes.

i just don’t think they’re interested in connecting those episodes in a conventional manner and that’s ok.

i hear what ur saying but idk, i disagree with the idea that it’s sloppy😭

    it’s presented really well

This. It confuses me cus didn’t Zazie say Van has an amazing arc this season? We’ve gotten so little from her so it makes me confused on what she’s referring to

  • May 9, 2022

With Clark county being dead, I decided to reverse the wacky ghost theory. What if instead of Van being dead, Earn Darius and Al are actually dead, and they all died in a plane accident wit Clark county. Van coming to Europe is her way of mourning.

Obviously this isn’t real, and if there was some kinda truth to the ghost theory the show would never confirm it. It would just be one of those things for audiences to interpret on their own.

People were saying earlier in this thread (maybe it was even you idk lol) that this season will be more appreciated once the shows over and years have passed but I vehemently disagree.

I think if anything you'll have lots of praise from the usual "nah, it's deep. y'all just not thinking" groups and in five years everyone will wonder, "why the f*** did they decide to waste that amazing cast with half the season not including them and the other 5 episodes not going anywhere?"

Obviously there is common themes that are prevalent throughout this season that all tie together but goddamn

I doubt there will be a satisfying resolution to any of that tbh, hope I'm wrong.

They shoehorned her into this season. She has no reason to be in Europe with them.

im convinced the paris episode is gonna be van's episode and it's gonna be probably the episode with the most narrative consequences for earn (and possibly al and darius too)

zazie has enough power and stardom to not go to the show and say that, and with such little episodes left without the main cast, im assuming that there will be a full episode (like there usually is) dedicated to her

im excited to see where she goes, what her ambitions are now, and so much more

but i know they're gonna give us something completely diff than what we expect

this s*** is fr not a sitcom

damn we might actually never find out if al owns his masters

we dont know that yet, i feel like if other key actors wasn't at the sxsw, why would zazie choose to be there if she was unsatisfied with her character

idk i dont feel like they would say that just to say that to throw anyone off. i feel like their writing has matured so much over the past few years. we've gotten such little footage of van in the promo, and of paris (despite it being continually hinted at, although you can argue we got little footage of london in white fashion and that wasn't the most important episode)

i'm convinced the penultimate or final episode will be majority of van in paris. i feel like if thats the case then earn and darius lowkey took a backseat, and really focused on paperboy and van, because so far i think paperboy has become more of the main character...

feel like im talking too much idk

    overanalyzing

i just love this show so f***ing much
i'm gonna wait till the season to finish to make my judgement tbh
