NoirHad to put my dog down tonight 😞 She was in so much pain by the end. I've never had to do that before. It's a really horrible feeling, picking out your loved one's urn in front of them while they lie there scared and confused. My daughter was there too and my wife tried to explain what was going on.
On top of saying goodbye to everyone at my old school on Tuesday and starting a job at a new one on Thursday, it's been a really tiring, emotional week. That's nothing compared to this but it's just a lot.

It's so true. I have a deep empathy for the suffering of animals. It f***ing sucks to die on a table in a cold white room with a cone around your head. I can't even imagine. She did nothing wrong, but that's how it goes. You're around for a little while and the cost of that chance to be alive is that one day you lose it and the people who loved you have to hurt when you're gone. It really sucks, but she got to have a mostly happy life and I have my memories of her.
what gave me some comfort when all of my dogs have died (have had like 5 or 6 die at this point?) is that they don't have any concept of (their own) death. They live a good life with a loving owner, and then it's time for them to move on. My last dog Walter was in so much pain the last 2 years of his life that when we finally put him down, I felt so much relief that the pain was finally over for him. The pain will stay with with the owner forever, but I believe that, in the end, the memories and happiness they brought you far outweigh the suffering of letting them go.

A24 has some cool stuff for sure, don't get me wrong, but the smaller non marvel-tier films coming out from other countries far surpass the A24 stuff. If so called 'film-heads' would only look beyond American Cinema... so much to discover.
