yeah thats the thing i was thinking of already knowing that you liked. i might be off base here but i still kinda feel like Rock Bottom and subsequent Wyatt moreso is different from the rest of canterbury, still the scene ofc but very unique and has a bit less in common with the core canterbury sound. like he was already starting to go off gradually into his own completely unique direction

also feel like the debut is underrated as a bonafide psych album, never see it mentioned alongside psych but i think it fits in with 1968 in the same vein that early soft machine does

I been saying he was to the 50s and early 60s what Beatles, Bowie, Kanye etc were to their respective decades. Massive style shifts in between phases that were potent enough to shift the culture.

im in shambles by the end of this one off the bass alone and the vocal swells at the end vibing along with those keyboards stunning
