Dude seems destined to pull a Ricky Williams sooner than later
Real talk Ricky Williams seemed very true to himself during that existential crisis/self discovery stint. Kyrie seems like he does a lot of that s*** for attention one way or another. Like Kyrie would "disappear" then be seen on Skype, so clearly everyone would be like
but Ricky would take that s*** to another level and end up in India
i was being kinda hyperbolic when i said it s***s on 71 but now that im home looking at my library i agree with myself. of course there was more variety in 71 as the core genres expanded but i care more about what exactly my goats were releasing.

this is ignoring all the psych nuggets of '66 too. dont know why youre surprised i think this considering the psych era was over by '71 (and my distaste for 70s soul). '66 had twice as many goats peaking as '71.
mm feel like youre reaching a little bit with some of this
including Stones for 66 not 71? including stuff based on recording date like Velvets, Doors, Airplane (debut is fine but still). Beau Brummels in 66 with their covers album and 2 random singles? I like Who 66 a lot but feel like 71 is certainly better. Neil/Buffalo with a decent debut and an all time classic song but,,,idk, & unless by "nearing zenith in 66" you mean that they hit a zenith in 67 which is totally cheating
for 71:
lot of those 66 goat artists were still going with great stuff: Beach Boys, Kinks, Gene, Doors, Van, soul/funk artists like Curtis, Marvin, James Brown,
all the prog goats of Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Tull, Floyd. Plus all the underground stuff and of course the peripheral scenes like Kraut and Canterbury, avant garde s*** too
yes peak era psych was over but still a lot of great stuff when you take into account prog+psych and hard+psych fusion. and other non-US/UK stuff
peak hard rock including Zep, Deep Purple, Sabbath, Heep,
lots of blues/southern rock
jazz definitely worth a strong mention with fusion/jazzrock/spiritual type stuff: Miles was great as ever, Mahavishnu, Herbie, Pharoah Sanders,Alice Coltrane, lot of cacs
glam like you mentioned
lot of good singer/songwriter, some of which you mentioned even if I'm not into all of it like Joni, Leonard. random folk s*** like Comus
seems like non-US/UK scenes were getting more into full swing in general like France, Brazil, Japan, Germany, british folk
seems pretty strong for blues and country in general
just feel like 1971 was more fruitful and deeper like I mentioned. Surely it can be agreed that 1967 was really the explosion in many respect even though 1966 was great, and 1971 was still continuing that with everything that was going on
66 is great but still feel like its part of the increasing up to the absolute god tier years of 67-68-69. instead of being on their level
also obligatory mention that you left out Zappa legendary debut in 66, although 1971 was his worst year before the 80s hit

Yeah it wouldn’t surprise me if it was partly an act with Kyrie

DK is 60's dust, RVI is that 70's show, and your de 80's mon.. So I gotta ask you, The Rolling Stones 'Dirty Work'.. Underrated joint ? :mystery:

didn't have to tell you that one

Ahh I was thinking Sticky Fingers was 70
Yeah some of them were better in 71 but still goat in 66. I f***ing adore those Brummels singles.

What did Neil release in 71? Cause I love his songs on the Springfield debut

absolutely nothing but i was saying it more in terms of questioning inclusion for 66. buffalo debut is like a solid 7/10 for me :dno:

Velvets had singles out in '66 btw
we been over that
I don't go off recording date and the only might be pushing is Doors but I thought their first single was 66

Hendrix first single compared to no Hendrix?
surprised that's not enough to at least give you pause
Compounded by what you said about Zappa thats your two goats not even really contributing to 71

Doors didn't have a single out before the album?
seems really weird for the time

yeah, considering that Hey Joe is easily one of his most overrated songs to me and im never really reaching for it. Stone Free is of course amazing though. certainly not enough to give me pause for that alone. and this is cheating but definitely a few decent Jimi songs on the 2 posthumous albums released in 71, if you combined the best of both removing the nonsense itd be a solid 8/10
speaking of 71 btw i kinda need you to start stanning canterbury with me, ik you already like some but its one style thats just continued to grow and grow on me. plus the fact that its extremely british and has significant psych remnants too

Does it not matter that I put Wyatt's Rock Bottom in the most rarified air lol? I like the scene decently, been meaning to move on with Carava
And yeah that's super cheating
@rise_zero @RASIE
could you imagine
