His music may have not aged best but Eminem in his prime is one of the best lyricist and has one of the best flows ever, even if u dont like his music! His rhyme schemes flows and imagery/story telling was on another level. If Em made more normal songs like D*** Ballad, If I Had, Superman, Soldiers like songs without too much edge he’d be an easy top 10 rapper. I dont think hes top 10 best rappers but I think he’s top 10 most talented and top 10 most impactful

Because he literally focuses on the technical aspects that only impress little white kids (how fast he can rap and how many words he can rhyme)

He has a severe lack of actual bars. I can’t even recall a good entendre from him

It also doesn’t help his ear for beats is the worst in history

Eminem has higher highs than Jay artistically but Jay doesn’t have the horrible lows that Em has when it comes to his cringy horrorcore songs

What’s funny is he toned that down a bit on the last album and it was still f***ing horrible because he has no interesting artistic vision and has nothing to rap about

There’s a lot of things you can be talented in as a artist
Em only has like, technical rap skill as the consistent one.
If u take eminems music since 09 he’s bad at hooks, he’s bad at beat picking. He’s a mixed bag as a writer, he’s bad at making cohesive albums, he’s bad at sequencing and he generally just doesn’t have great ideas

Eminem Show is his only great album

Skill means nothing if you can't do anything with it

A lot of Rappers would be one of the best if they hyper focused on their best moment/era/lane

These aren't unique to Eminem

If he stayed on this wave with this same voice, he’d be a lot more revered and respected still

Can someone explain how so many rappers take crazy amounts of d**** and don’t go down in quality but when em did it he just lost his ability to make good music can pills fr permanently impact your creativity like that

as has been said, Jay has not had the lows Em has had. Jay doesn't have a " Revival" in his catalog

But he has always been over hyped to a degree due to literally his mainstream fame

There are Rappers better than him that are in his "lane" or style of "rappity Rap"

Black Thought literally one of the best of all time in terms of pure skill perhaps the #1 best, Andre 3000, Kurupt, Lupe Fiasco, Ghostface Killah etc.

They can also make great songs on top of it

TES is where he started showing how corny he was imo

He started doing the grating yelling delivery

MMLP I feel is too try hard overall a long with some things not aging well, but still a good album overall

TES is the perfect of everything Eminem, while being who he actually is
