People look at Views like it was supposed to be VFT6 instead of a Pop Rap Album and I think that's where the problem is

Jun 6, 2023¡1 replythegreatdivineTyler's latest albums are just s*** critics f*** with. They have zero impact culturally. And that has nothing to do with numbers. Tyler's music isn't influencing/impacting/setting the trend for rap in any way. It never has.
He's just a dude who raps well when he wants to and makes really good music his own way but things like impact matter a lot to me because any nigga can make a really good album. The impact that album has culturally is what carries it home because the rap albums we consider the greatest of all time weren't just good/great albums, they were also really impactful so no, I'm never putting Tyler's discography anywhere near Drake's lol.

Controlla without Popcaan is still a great song and so is One DanceâŚso to you whatâs the difference in quality between IYRTITL and Views ? Because that mixtape is so overrated imo

Of course, he's that highly regarded because he has a long history of putting out amazing music but it's still worth noting how high a standard he has to clear with regards to the actual quality of the music in comparison to what everyone else is dropping.
His music isn't mid or bad. Worst thing you could say about Drake is that some of his songs aren't as good as his best songs.
I think anyone whoâs judging them overall can easily make the argument that albums like Views, Scorpion, More Life, and CLB are mediocre in the same way that anyone can make the argument that albums like Ye, Jesus is King, and Donda are mediocre.
Personally, I love More Life, and Donda is one of my favorite Ye albums, but I can definitely understand how an unbiased listener might come to the conclusion that those two projects, along with the others I mentioned, fail to reach the level of quality overall that both artistsâ earlier albums reach.
