I think anyone who’s judging them overall can easily make the argument that albums like Views, Scorpion, More Life, and CLB are mediocre in the same way that anyone can make the argument that albums like Ye, Jesus is King, and Donda are mediocre.

Personally, I love More Life, and Donda is one of my favorite Ye albums, but I can definitely understand how an unbiased listener might come to the conclusion that those two projects, along with the others I mentioned, fail to reach the level of quality overall that both artists’ earlier albums reach.

I don't know too many people who think More Life is mediocre but I get your point.

Personally, I think people who are quick to compare an artist's current work to their former work isn't doing them any favors. I used to do that before and it was a very miserable experience for me because nothing new was as good as the old s***. Now, I try to experience every album on its own merit and I take it for what it is.

The base level for me is that at the very least, the songs should be listenable/enjoyable. Give me that and I'm good.

What impact has he had in mainstream rap musically? Don't bring up GOLF/his festival. Just in terms of his music, since that's what's being discussed.

Carti, Uzi, Juice Wrld, Vince, and Kevin Abstract to name a few have been impacted by Tyler and OFWGKTA in general. Drake himself has even acknowledge how important Tyler has been to the rap game and in music in general. I get that you may have bias when it comes to Drake but at some point you have to put that aside to have a normal conversation.

This is true and fair, except the highs on Drake’s albums are much, much higher than the highs on any of those Kanye albums

There we go! Then if we wanna take it somewhere else, CMIYGL has had everyone running to Drama again for a project too.

Tyler's latest albums are just s*** critics f*** with. They have zero impact culturally. And that has nothing to do with numbers. Tyler's music isn't influencing/impacting/setting the trend for rap in any way. It never has.

He's just a dude who raps well when he wants to and makes really good music his own way but things like impact matter a lot to me because any nigga can make a really good album. The impact that album has culturally is what carries it home because the rap albums we consider the greatest of all time weren't just good/great albums, they were also really impactful so no, I'm never putting Tyler's discography anywhere near Drake's lol.

I’m mostly with you here that what Tyler does is missing something in this conversation

But to say “anyone can make a great album” is such gross disrespect of music as an art form, somehow I’m not surprised you think this way

Do not understand the hate Scorpion gets

Released after the Adidon bullshit, a time when it was the trending/cool thing to hate on Drake (Not saying it isn't cool to hate on Drake now as well, but at that time Drake was goofed all over the internet). That album was way too influenced by that beef. Most people remember that era as Drake losing to Pusha T and Scorpion being 'mid'. In reality, Scorpion is probably one of his most successful albums and probably his best album in terms of hits. God's Plan, In My Feelings, Nice for What, I'm Upset, Nonstop. I don't think any other Drake album had that many 'hits'
