How does a female rap MIXTAPE sell 11k and get Grammy nominated? Something like that would never happen for Latto, JT, etc.
And yea you can argue she’s “more talented and makes better music” but in general no female rapper has ever got recognition like that from the Grammys while completely not doing any numbers.
No female rapper could ever drop a MIXTAPE and be named woman of the year across the entire music industry without some special pulls

First week sales aren’t everything. The album has been doing well on a weekly basis. It will go platinum.
Section.80 did 5k first week and Kendrick blew up overnight off that tape.
None of that happened til after the Grammys campaign though. Denial Is a River went viral and the album recharted AFTER the campaign of performances and celebrity endorsements she got following her Grammy nomination.
The mixtape charted 1 week at first, fell off, had no songs get traction.
Then she magically scored a Grammy nom and had a bunch of things lined up to campaign a win. She even got a Grammys performance which is crazy cause no female rapper has ever got that before even dropping a debut album

IHSI feel like people forget or don't know that she had a very popular song like just two years ago. her rise is pretty easy to track and hell yea her label has given her a push post mixtape release but clearly people are also responding to it and not just fans but the industry as well. and perhaps that's the difference... the industry love is taking her to another level
