i really refuse to believe that someone who’s album sold less, got worse reviews, was less trending on socials, and had had a smaller cultural impact deserves woman of the year. doechii had a great album and i enjoy but a presidential candidate used brat as part of her campaign trail that’s a different tier

if you wanna give doechii hip hop artist of the year because she dropped a great album that’s pushing female rappers as a whole forward and could make female rappers looked at as more than just the “stripper and smut” rap a lot of them get boxed in that’s cool and i respect that but music as a whole is nuts

there isn't a hip hop category and previous winners were just pop artists yet they were allowed to represent "music as a whole" so I don't see why it's bad when a rapper does too
