We won’t see come ups in the same way.

Something you have to recognize is the generational divides and influences. The Wale/Drake/ J Cole/ Kendrick era rappers were all influenced by a lot of what they grew up with. They controlled the narrative at the time with the infancy of the internet era. Soul, r&b and BB rap. There was a drive to bring that back and everyone was f***ing with it. There is talent involved with every person named not just short lived gimmicks. Rappers born in the early 90s same s***. When you get to the Uzi era of rap these were all kids influenced by Lil B and Soulja. Mostly internet rap in short. Not boom bap or soul like their older peers. The more time goes on the more distant upcoming artists will be from the roots outside of a few anomaly’s. We are only a few years away from the next big things biggest idol to be some random Tik Tok guy. It’s less about the craft more about the clout and making money now. We won’t see artistry the same. We already don’t.

Right on the money. The only sector of original hip-hop/rap that will always live on is street rap but you can only go so far with that. Like the post after you said, they are going to basically make a white version of rap that will basically be its substitute and promote that in the place of what we grew up seeing rap defined as. Some light skin mf in his basement that just got outta class earlier is gonna be the next big thing and he will be pop rap/whatever X and Juice were going to be fr.

At this point I feel like they about to make a name for rap music that's not for black people

It'll still have the elements of hip hop but it'll be marketed towards everybody but black people

Like how rock is blues for white folks

Pop is R&B for white folks

Big band is jazz for white folks

    💀

Lofi Hip Hop lowkey fits this.

I think new LA is the only movement that is pumping out legit artists that all have their own styles. Everyone in ATL sounds like Future and Thug. Everyone in New York is doing the old song sample + drill drums formula which is straight booty juice, after Pop I feel like that wave is finished. Benny and Griselda puttin on for NY but thats literally it. Detroit and Memphis get honorable mention.

Out of all those you named I think POP and X had the biggest chance to fill that role. (RIP to both)

For sure. I’d say Juice but them too was different for sure.

That’s my point lol. Lack of originality, not enough raw talent, inauthentic/not relatable enough personas, no versatility. Don’t think anyone can put it all together at the level Hov, ye, and Drake did for a while. Niggas aren’t even remotely close to Cole or Kendrick either. No next big star anywhere in sight.
