Tenet is gonna age so good too
It's the bomb that didn't go off. The danger no one knew was real. The movie that nobody ever saw.... That has the real power to change the world.
“MISSION ACCOMPLISHED”
Both high concept sci-fi films with a spy thriller plot and a similar bombastic score. I know they aren’t exactly spies in Inception but it’s pretty much alike. You tryna tell me they aren’t?
Concept-wise maybe, but if anybody were to ask me what are the most Nolanesqe films, the answers would be Dunkirk and Tenet. You feel his imprint on those films the most filmmaking-wise.

I’d argue for Inception & TDK because that were he truly started to master his montage style he’s been known for ever since
This not getting nom'd for Cinematography, Score, and not winning the nom for Production Design is crazy.

honestly laughable it didnt win cinematography, let alone a nom
the nominees this year for cinemetography are a f***ing joke. Trial and Judas just looked like generic streaming algorithm movies, Nomadlands look was trash and Mank's wannabe film aesthetic looked pathetic.
Tbh the only movies that really impressed me in 2020 cinematography wise was this, The Empty Man and Da 5 Bloods.
Tenet packages all of Nolan's worst qualities into a single film, making it one of the most painful film going experiences in recent memory for me.

I love this movie
Dunkirk losing cinematography to Blade Runner 2049 was a sad sight too
To be fair, 2049 is quite the looker

oh yeah it looks great but i found everything in Dunkirk to be more dynamic and stunning. BR2049 isn't even one of Deakins' finest works, imo.
Pattinson’s presence in the movie was a rock and without him this movie would have been a real mess.

Dunkirk had better use of camera angles (more diverse shots) & overall better cadence - but BR2049 easily felt more immersive.

I love the shot when Farrier glides over the beach, until I see the more modern houses. It kinda kills the immersion for me. But yeah, other than that Nolan was at the top of his game with Dunkirk!
