That's part of the movie concept, like the protagonist is named... the protagonist
Oh I got it, still felt nothing at all tho
great video for ppl like @mothership @Theory and such
I don't remember the dialogue being hard to hear
that's really weird
I kept falling asleep watching this so I'm not gonna weigh in on it being hard to follow lol
How this man spend 5 years writing this script and not write a single compelling character, even by accident
I didn’t even to bother on trying to make sense about the movie to the point where I’m reading theories and YouTube videos on it
Nolan clearly didn’t put effort into writing the movie so why should I care. I just went along with the ride and enjoyed the sequences.
It’s odd because Dunkirk used a very minimalist approach with its writing as well but yet the script feels way tighter.
this movie is basically the first 10 minutes of inception. when leo is being badass like james bond catching bullets n sh*t.
nolan literally just made that sequence into an entire movie oozing in cool. his own james bond type movie.
and i love it so so much
My nigga... His own 007 for 2hours
I think it works in a lot of other areas. The entirety of the Prestige has sudden cuts where violence happens and it's perfect; the guy getting crunched by the ship in Dunkirk or the cop getting shot by TDK are good examples too.
I think he likes it bc it's an easy way to navigate a PG-13 rating if your movie has a ton of violence.
oh totally. but in THOSE moments.....that he has done multiple times,...even in tenet...it just takes away from the overall impact of the scene,
totally get that the rating means more accessibility but its a huge issue to me and its been happening for...over a decade
AUDIO TERRORISM LETS GO
Definitely gonna use subtitles and keep the TV at a low volume when I stream it

yes can confirm
It’s the logistics that are so hard on the first watch
When the red room blue room scene hits in Tallin you’re getting your brain fried
Now that @rwina is banned i can finally post that this is most defenitly bottom tier Nolan after multiple rewatches without having to look over my shoulder
Cool ideas but very underwhelming execution most of the times. Nice setpieces though and i like the score for this as well
It's just that Nolan doesn't know how to properly communicate such complex ideas lmao, he just knows how to package and sell the experience but i couldn't care less about trying to keep up with what was happening all the time when i watched this in the theater tbh
With somebody like Lynch he takes even more abstract ideas, that aren't even meant to be viewed through any scientific lense, which SHOULD make them even more difficult but he perfectly knows how to translate those ideas to film which is why we as viewers can emotionally reasonate with it and make sense of it
That's really something Nolan should learn imo whenever he wants to try something as concept heavy as this in the future. Inception was great, because it wasn't overly complex. But this... yeah next time either give it to another director or bring in someone else to steer him in the right way. Exposition scenes in this were terrible
Anyone that doesn't think Dunkirk is top-tier Nolan (or top-tier modern filmmaking) either needs to rewatch it or not be listened to lol
F*** the bullshit... Tenet & Dunkirk top tier Nolan. He in his prime.
Nah Dunkirk is but Tenet isn't he already did the same type of film better with Inception

What makes you post this lmao Dunkirk gets some of the most praise out of any of his films

In film circles, yes, but there's a larger audience out there that thinks it's one of his lesser/underwhelming films than you might think.
It's insane to me that anyone can think that but it's out there. You can check this thread or the Dunkirk thread and see what I'm talking about

I'm gonna do my best to not sound like a film snob because i honestly ain't one in the slightest but who cares about opinions of people who don't often watch films if we being real
If someone is not invested in the medium and has at least a basic knowledge of multiple styles of film and directors then it's a big chance they don't really have anything constructive to offer when talking about a film
Dunkirk is really great though, love that film

How is Tenet like Inception?
How is Tenet like Inception?
Both high concept sci-fi films with a spy thriller plot and a similar bombastic score. I know they aren’t exactly spies in Inception but it’s pretty much alike. You tryna tell me they aren’t?
At least Tenet would be the first film i’d think of when somebody would ask me to name something similar to Inception. Besides Paprika of course
