Just realized intro is basically the sickboi sound modernized
so the first track on his final album is a throwback to the first Gambino tape
Yeah. As hard as camp can be to listen to in retrospect. At the point where I was in my life it was the only rap album that I truly felt and could relate to.
Niggas think rap has to always appeal to the marketability of cool but that album filled a void for black kids that didn’t fall into that criteria the world tells us we have to fill. It did its job. S*** got me out of a tough spot as a black kid surrounded by white folks in Mississippi. Was such an important album for me
it’s pretty straight up bad at some points but i think it’s still an important album for exactly what you brought up, another genuine perspective on the black experience with actual depth behind it. even tyler wasn’t filing this niche at the time
lithonia
steps beach
yoshinoya
dadvocate
a place where love goes
there are parts of other songs I really enjoy, cruisin when the strings come in towards the end, the intro of running around but the rest just isnt clicking at all, not feeling the features and feel like Donald has barely any presence on half these songs he’s just lost in the background
Couldn’t agree less with the last point. I love AML and Atavista more but this album feels like the most we’ve had Donald’s vocals at the fore front clearly since STN MTN / Kauai

Yeah that had me scratching my head because Donald is front and center on all of these songs

Firefly Kids and Hold Me Down used to hit so hard to me in 7th grade
I still love Les but man listening to it and imagining me and my crush finally getting together when we were older back in 7th grade

This and odd future for me

That's why Because the Internet is a top 3 all time personal album. It has a similar theme and perspective as Camp but it only has cringe moments, not entire songs
You can’t be serious rn lmfao
Yah it’s dope
yall hate the album? I’m out the loop

I mean I ain’t rly “y’all” I just be lurkin and s***. For me, as a world champion Donald glover eater who has absorbed almost everything this man has put out and then some, I feel like I’m not hearing the same album. Real Love is some of the most disgustingly saccharine pop bullshit I’ve heard in I don’t know how long. I have no idea how Donald seriously feels like this is a fitting close to the CG moniker personally. That’s just me though

appreciate hearing your thoughts
I’m still digesting the album so can’t say much yet
i wanna go
you should! they have a standby line if you missed out on rsvps

He mentioned specifically something about people remembering a summer with an album. That’s why I think he used SOS as the example but actually meant blonde
Btw also the transition of the blonde beat switch technically isn’t actually at the exact halfway point it’s just close enough and people ran with it. But the beat switch being halfway through track 9 on both albums is strong enough evidence to me, it doesn’t feel random
I don't necessarily think this album is very influenced by blonde but he did mention frank in the interview about Michael uzowuru
Album already growing me
Still hold my biggest complaints tho, basically all the features are ASS especially Yeat and Amaraee on all the tracks she’s on except In The Night
And some tracks (intro and got to be) are way too abrasive that I don’t see myself returning to at any point later
Intro track is so hard , people will see the vision one day
DONALD GLOVER CALLED CUT ON THESE HOES !!

Foushee feature works cause the beat is hard as bricks
