I heard grief is love in a thunderstorm
and death is really nothing but the norm
and everybody at the end get what's coming to em
even god got some loving or an oven for em
and if we isn't on the same flight on the same night
I'ma wait, sit around and hang tight
until the day we become the same height

Peanut butter jelly with a baseball bat,
Peanut butter jelly with a, peanut butter jelly,
Y'all ain't ready for this jelly, it'll break y'all back.

There’s no possible way he could top the big day in terms of negative reception… right?
negative 1 maybe
I will say I feel like The Big Day was getting ok reception before the I love my wife meme dropped
peak of his powers. Mad excited for Star Line knowing Space & Time (which has gave me the closest feelings to these along with Link Me In The Future) is on there.
these singles were fire
Bunch of tank-top, nappy headed bike-stealin' Chatham boys
None of my niggas ain't had no dad
None of my niggas ain't have no choice
niggas NEVER gon convince coloring book wasnt his best work man this album was beautiful.
Spectacular album

Nah they were s***ting on it for the hot shower track initially. Then I was seeing people trashing on it for how long the album was. People also said it had random ass features that they didn't like with Shawn Mendes, Death Cab for Cutie, and Randy Newman.
The real critiques I saw was that the album was bloated and all over the place. But I guess people just settled for "I love my wiiiiife". Which ended up taking a life of its own when the relationship drama started kicking up.
Doesn't help that prior to the album drop he was acting an ass on social media, so he already had people ready to s*** on him the moment the album dropped.
The Big Day wasn’t good overall but it had a few spectacular tracks. Do you remember is genuinely incredible, Eternal too. We go high, sun come down, town on the hill great tracks as well. Also slide around a bop fr, love that track
I'll give the album a listen out of curiosity. But I can't say I'm lookin forward to hearing his goofy PBS Kids ass flow.

I always liked Eternal

Chance was on top but definitely had a ego filled head (most major artist do anyway)
His debut, losing his wife and manager were all humbling moments which I hope transfer to this new body of work some way if nothing else

yes the album is a mess
20 + songs, hour and 20 mins and still found the time to let nicki minaj have the final verse/vocals on the album

Yup on the ego thing, this part of the Pitchfork review always stuck with me:
"These raps aren’t just duller and more rigid in motion, they’re dogmatic. He loves his girl, he loves his God, he loves his kid, and anyone who doesn’t share that love is a dissenter. He is so tenacious in his worship that it can feel contrived. “They prop up statues and stones, try to make a new God/I don’t need a EGOT, as long as I got you, God,” he raps, demonizing the same awards he champions elsewhere on the album as marks of progress."
