The funniest part is that the whole beef is Kendrick copping a plea because drake has evidence he smacked his wife. even though he is talking about drake, he did the “ he is not your savior” delivery telling people/drake that he acknowledges his soon to be revealed flaws.

Yeah man that’s the funniest part of the whole beef

I think this is the problem.

It would be one thing if Drake was just collaborating & genuinely appreciating / putting a spotlight on some of these different sounds and scenes in the music world, but that’s not all he’s doing.

The problem is that he that he cosplays as every subculture he’s collaborating with while collaborating with them.

Working with UK drill artists is one thing, using a fake British accent and speaking with UK slang terms only in records with them is another. I don’t think we’ve ever seen another rapper do something like that.

It’s like if Kanye was rapping with Southern drawl on Barry Bonds, it’s weird

True. I think the closest we’ve seen to this kind of weird accent s*** is Tyler putting on a southern drawl on his recent work

Also this is literally battle of the opposites, Kendrick is spiritual and tells all his flaws, and drake is shallow spiritually and puts on a front in everything he says. this is a battle of ‘responsibility’ and ultimately Kendrick wins that battle in every way. If both claims are true, false, or fake, and evidence comes out in anyway for any of there claims, kendrick is still with his wife after the incident ( hearts on a IG pic and him being in NY does not cut it) and drake still has a clear history of talking to underaged women in a way that is inappropriate, or can be seen as inappropriate. Also “THAT” video with the girl on stage is irredeemable and will tarnish drake forever when brought to light.

last tracks are Kendrick, drake, Kendrick

Kendrick makes a hit that passes drake in streaming records beating him at his own game (the summer record everyone thinks drake is coming out with)

Drake goes visceral on a track as he reveals the proof of the hitting.(presumably the court docs being the cover of the song)

Both of these niggas will be in shambles, so since Kendrick is 10x a better rapper then drake he will protect the culture / “the family” and preform a godly perfect song that cleans the narrative for both of them in the public eye.

All of this was revealed in the 6:16/ meet the grahams songs.

Mal was yelling because he was right

AK is still a d*** rider

There is no script (in life aswell you dumb b****)

The world is getting better everyday.

i am not a demon, I am not a god

You niggas just can’t rap or read for s***.

And drake is a d***head to think this was a cool thing to use for a rap beef.

  • May 19, 2024

It’s just obvious when there’s an angle

We could debate until the end of time but 2pac wasn’t riding the wave of artists that had “the sound” every chance he got

Kendrick hasn’t either. He’s been asked to feature from time to time but is he adding feature after feature of artists who are currently the main sound stylistically or is his creating from what sounds like is an organic place..

It boils down to being able to spot these things as they happen just like in real life. Is dude really your homie or is he using you to benefit in some way and dissociate himself as soon as it no longer behooves him to further the relationship?

If you take everything at face value I’m sure all of this sounds like Drake hate but we all know and can see with our own eyes that he’s done this consistently throughout his career and is CURRENTLY doing the exact same thing with Yachty.

There were folks who would use Drake to get off their own problematic views towards lightskin people. To lump this song in there or anyone who criticizes Drake’s soulless trophy esque relationship with American black culture is dishonest. And yes the things Drake has said during this beef has put a lot of s*** into perspective

He’s a label head and bottom line serving pillager in black clothing

The same can be said about 2Pac who’s from the East Coast but somehow felt compelled to represent the West Coast once he moved there. 2Pac, the guy who used to talk with a pretty effeminate accent. I’m not blaming or mocking 2Pac, mind you. I’m just saying that once again Kendrick’s liberal sensibilities and moralizing make him a pathetic hypocrite. And ironically, Drake and 2Pac are more similar than Kendrick and 2Pac.

Cultural appropriation is necessary. Cultures influence each other through appropriation. Drake was influenced by different local identities (including Southern rap; the man has features with Bun B and T.I on his earliest projects for God’s sake) and it helped him shape the Toronto sound which in turn had a huge cultural impact on hip hop. That’s how cultures work, you f***ing tards. A culture which is segregated ends up dead. Cultures grow through interactions with other cultures.

Read, you f***ing tards. Read. Shakespeare was heavily influenced by Italian culture. Victor Hugo was heavily influenced by Arab, North African and Andalusian culture. James Joyce was heavily influenced by Ancient Greek culture and more specifically Aristotle’s philosophy. A work of art, an artistic identity, a cultural movement — these things don’t appear out of nowhere. Anyone who gives credit to this rhetoric is an idiot.

Drake will try any sound he likes. And he’ll copy your accent. And he’ll play with the cadences you use. And he’ll use your slang. Because that’s how he asserts his dominance. That’s how he proves his talent. He’ll let you invite him on your territory. And guess what? It’ll be a hit. And it’ll bring a lot of attention on your local culture. And you and your homies will make a lot of money thanks to him.

…except the points being levied in this thread haven’t criticized cultures influencing each other let alone art

no one is saying that cultures and art grow in a vacuum away from influences, what’s being put into question here or at least trotted out, is that Drake has a tendency to act like he’s from a culture that he isn’t, in addition to jumping on rising waves and trends that introduce him to new audiences, whitewash his image (by linking up with “street” guys like Migos and Future) that ultimately further his career by giving him an entirely new facet of his persona to explore, let alone sounds, slang and whatever else he can spin in his music

you mention philosophy, someone like Saint Aquinas for example, based a solid portion of his entire philosophy for Catholicism off of Aristotelianism, albeit he was inspired by Aristotle, he wasn’t acting like he was a Greek philosopher. he didn’t act like he was an Hellenist. he didn’t adopt Greek mannerisms, accents or claim that he was from there. he made it clear where he got his inspiration from and didn’t feel the need to monkey see monkey do the Greeks simply because he liked Aristotle so much, that’s pretty much the issue here

    no one likes a poser

  • and the fact that’s the second time i’m seeing someone unironically say 2Pac is closer to Drake than Kendrick is

you niggas definitely never listened to the music

Like if you look at the difference in an artist like Kanye, who has taken inspiration from numerous sounds and styles and cultures over the years, he’s never once been called anything like a culture vulture. Because he becomes inspired by other scenes and then inserts himself into it, rather then pretending to be a part of the scene itself

Kanye post yeezus is probably worse at this tbh.
