Well if every dumb person understands this why don’t you?

Some things are so stupid that only intellectuals believe them, including the belief that if a bunch of dumb people reflexively believe something that it must be true

on the right you got a bunch of old, rich white men who want nothing more than to preserve their wealth and prevent the lower classes from moving up the social hierarchy. they are also all misogynists who want to take away women's rights to abortion

on the left you got a bunch of naive young adults fresh out of liberal arts colleges with s***ty sociology degrees who want to supress free speech and punish anyone whose perspective deviates even slightly from their dogma. they have very elementary understanding of economic systems and think capitalism should be replaced with some variation of socialism, but they haven't thought far enough through on the matter to determine what a superior economic system would actually be

From an ideological standpoint, a left-wing view is built on prioritizing human rights and equality above all else. Basically governing through collective action for common goals that are decided by and impact society as a whole.

Right-wing is based on conserving the existing order of society and power structure by any means necessary. It’s more nationalistic and meant to promote conformity to a certain set of values and beliefs. Since our current power structure prioritizes wealthy white people, this is technically what the right is trying to protect. It’s not necessarily the most popular thing, so it’s often maintain through violence and the preservation of inequality.

Of course all of our brains are broken because we live America, so people who align themselves with these ideologies typical don’t understand them fully which causes a lot of confusion. It’s all open to interpretation.

Historically, the right has always been those who defer to societal hierarchy and resist attempts to change it. I split the right between Conservatives who are content with the current societal hierarchy and Reactionaries who want to establish a different status quo. Since hierarchy has to have people at the top (patricians) and people at the bottom (plebs), rightists come up with justifications for why the Patricians and Plebs are at their respective positions. The left have been those who challenged those justifications and opted to abolish the hierarchy be it the divine right of kings, racial caste, class, etc etc. This is a simplified explanation but I think you can apply it pretty universally.

i like how the right has like 4 sentences to explain it, and left is just 1 lol

It’s been helpful for me recently to think of the divide as “normal” “culture” and the counterculture that it facilitates. Societal norms have always been informed by the religious majority and capital owners who leverage them, who’d like you to believe that anti-leftism is attractive counterculture, e.g. K*nye being called “punk rock 🤓” by Gav. When the reality points to right-adjacent ideas and social structures like policing and lack of equity of opportunity in general as being the norm, as it has been for as long as capital has been the driving force of influence. The left is an umbrella under which anyone who’d like to see this culture change for the better of workers and underserved groups, and dismantle the pyramid of influence would stand - see Lein’s reply page 1.

i would argue that many rappers are indeed playing a character, they just don't want you to know that

i don't see this as a valid argument. every musician is an entertainer but regardless of what they do for entertainment if it goes against societal norms they have to take personal responsibility. an actor uses a slur to reinforce their taboo-ness, not to make it seem appealing or encourage it. the nature of a word being a slur is the public desire to weed it out of our vocabulary because its hurtful - why would we allow more people to use it casually? a***ysis aside you'd get laughed at and subsequently taught a lesson if you as a white person said the n-word "as a bit" or "i was just playing a character"

this didn't make a lot of sense. rappers have to "take responsibility if what they do goes against societal norms"? not really. what about all the rap about killing people disrespecting women, selling d****, etc that lots of people rap about without facing any consequences for it whatsoever?

it is my opinion that rap and movies aren't really as different as we would like to believe. there are plenty of examples of rappers admitting they play up characters in their music to appeal to what they think people want to see, just like they are playing a character
