it depends more on what specific scale of politics youre using

But even by that standard they both have some pretty unabashedly right wing lines on certain things imo
Plus you look at someone like Hitchens was a borderline neocon
I guess maybe this just speaks to how similar the normie conceptions of right and left are, which also echoes some of what you we’re arguing with Durkio about in the conservative thread. Which is all the more reason to me why the Marxist understanding of these things is more appropriate

yeah i think the first thing which is important to recognize is that left/right normie politics colloquially is radically different than the radical left/right divide as seen in actual political theory. its kind of why the left/right distinction is so meaningless and redundant, because its far more about specific ideological partisanship than relationships to a simple umbrella pairing
