Like literally the main point of me posting that was to highlight that black men benefit from male privilege because regardless of their race, they are men at the end of the day. Have no idea how that's a difficult concept to grasp. S*** the talking points from both sides itt are even discussed in the f***in article which is how I know these niggas ain't even read s***. LORD Alfredo

Black men are factually at the bottom of every socio-economic metric in this country. Literally nothing on this list has anything to do with wielding actual systemic power over anyone.

"35. I can wear a shirt that others and I commonly refer to as a "wife beater" and never have the language challenged."
"37. Many of my favorite genres of films, such as martial arts, are based on violence."
"53. I can spend endless hours watching sports TV and have it considered natural."

This list is so mind numbingly stupid. Lmaoooooooo

    EDIT:

    12. I do not have to worry about the daily hassles of having my hair conforming to any standard image of beauty the
    way black women do.

Didn't that one boy get kicked outta school for dreads and was on Ellen last year?

    21. I can live in a world where polygamy is still an option for men in the United States as well as around the world.
    38. I have the privilege of popularizing or consuming the idea of a thug, which is based on the violence and
victimization of others with virtually no opposition from other men.
    49. I will make significantly more money as a professional athlete than members of the opposite s***will.
    59. I am able to play sports outside without my shirt on and it not be considered a problem.
    69. In college, black male professors will be involved in interracial marriages at much higher rates than members of
    the opposite s***will.
    83. In the Black Church, the majority of the pastoral leadership is male.
    66. In college, I will have the opportunity to date outside of the race at a much higher rate than black women will.

Was this list written by a middle schooler pretending what it would be like to write in college? Damn near everything on this list is some silly ass "what aboutism".

It's like one of those lists where people just put arguments just to make the list longer.

it amazes me how these "woke" activists will acknowledge the myth status of black-on-black crime but then turn around and weaponize crime statistics to paint black men as oppressors.

Black feminists are enemies of the black community and black men.

Black feminists are enemies of the black community and black men.

there needs to be a way to address the way racism is gendered towards black women, intersectionality as structural does a great job at that but the concept itself has been appropriated and gentrified.

i believe womanism does a much better job at protecting itself from whites appropriating it and it doesnt take a 2nd wave feminist approach to addressing black men's status comparative to black women. and white supremacy is our enemy bro.

nah bro, let's not do this

  • Personally, I notice the same dudes who fight so hard about us not having privileges being men are often the same dudes who hold extreme bitterness towards black women doing more than them. They also be the same niggas who go hard for dudes who have brought harm to women. Like I regularly witness that kinda s*** in real life.

I can understand why they do it. For some, they have that "Well the system is already so against us, who else is possibly going to stand up for us!?" kinda mentality. So much so that they might throw on the cape for s*** that is very clearly wrong. My response to that thinking is...y'all literally have nothing to gain from it, besides lookin like an a******, in most cases a nigga doing foul s*** is simply a nigga doing foul s***.

Men in general, regardless of their race, bring harm to women. That shouldn't even be something that's argued. Realistically we shouldn't even need stats and charts to prove that cause you can witness the s*** by just going outside, or since this is Rona times, just watching the news or reading the paper. With that being understood, why is it so hard for y'all to believe/accept that niggas be doing black women like dirt?

You ain't gotta like it. But because you don't like it you should be more inclined to learn how this s*** happens and what you can do as a black man to change the narratives. Cause all I see from a lot of y'all is b****ing and moaning and pettiness with that "Y'all don't even respect us so don't come to us for help" childish s***.

Black women have been excelling in education, careers, and lately even providing. Yet they're still receiving the most violence upon them by men of their own race. I don't know about y'all but that s*** is pretty crazy seeing as statistically, and even to y'all point systematically they're doing better than us. It's simply a matter of when you know better you do better. It's time to stop being so defensive and look at the reality of things.

when we talk about patriarchy we are talking about the gender construction under white supremacy, when exactly did black men access privilege under white patriarchy? was this after, before or during slavery and colonialism? are you familiar with social dominance theory and the subordinate male subject hypothesis?

to suggest that black men have inherent privilege within white patriarchy is ahistorical as it not only ignores our current status but suggests that the european patriarchal gender conception was universal prior to colonialism, which isnt true.

this is the reason why the concept of a separate "black patriarchy" which aims and fails to mimic its white counterpart was introduced to the academy.

They separate themselves from the identity of black male due to their sexuality. As corny as it is, I can't sit here and act like they do it for no reason since it's straight black men and women who quickly devalue them and treat them as less than men. Gay black men have been told often that they don't fit the archetype of the "real black man" most of their life by not only white people but also their own kind so it's not surprising that they pick up rhetoric against black men and choose their sexuality as their main identity.

too many black folks of all gender identities and sexual expressions are infected with coonery in their hopeless pursuit of gaining access to whiteness

  • And let’s be real most of the time we attack each other it ain’t even about privilege or nothing, that’s what they say it is but it really comes from racial self hatred. Let’s keep it real with each other

It's s*** those men are able to get away with because they're men that we cannot because in America that s*** doesn't fly...unless of course you're white and got money.

With this being said, we still have the opportunity to be much better than those other men.

I get it that every race of men has problems with their women, privilege exist for men, no doubt.

but I don’t think they broadcast it the way black folks do on social media for the sake of rts or likes. And let’s keep it real a lot of the time black men and women hate on each other it comes from a place of self hatred for our race and seeking white acceptance.

We already know Chinese and Latino people chase white acceptance and have problems with their women but they don’t broadcast it the way black folks do. It makes us look weak and entertains other races and paints another picture of black dysfunction. You see where I’m coming from?

modern day twitter activists sound a lot like jim crow era segregationists...

    1. statistics on IPV and sexual abuse are weaponized in a way which make these issues appear one sided, when in fact black men are the victims of these forms of violence at disproportionate rates compared to all other male groups.

    2. black men are called "weak leaks", "bullet bags", "the white people of black people", and told "the police aint killing yall fast enough" and when they push back against it theyre told theyre just being held accountable and there is no malice.

    3. the entirety of the divest movement, which ironically seem to acknowledge the subordinate male subject hypothesis but use it to suggest that black men are inferior and should be left behind.

black males are the only oppressed group where a PhD candidate and instructor can pathologize as violent murdering rapists and still keep a job teaching black children

What these radical fems don’t realize in traditional African culture and Especially in black America our community is a matriarchy not a patriarchy

It is a matriarchy. And it's been that way since the days of slavery as black women during that time had more access, for better and for worse. Which makes it even more wild to see black men do any sort of harm to black women. Our primary role in this matriarchy should be that of the protector. But the energy I've witnessed from other black men shows everything but that. What went wrong along the way? Have black men been trying to chase after the ideas of the white patriarchy for so long that it led to a change in how we view and treat our women?

I feel like this is something that should be discussed more. I think it's niggas who are trying hard to change how we operate as a matriarchy and shift it to a patriarchy despite it hardly being attainable due to us being locked out of the system. Which leads to an obvious clash of structures that ends up being more harmful to the whole of black people than anything else.

To make this entire discussion meet in the middle so we can build from it and talk, "Straight black men are attempting to be the white men of black people, but niggas forget this a matriarchy".
