A gang of niggas have been raped by they aunties or they moms friends but that ain’t interesting enough to tweet and make articles about

it isn't so much that it's uninteresting, there are black feminists like sadiya hartman and even kimberle crenshaw who have done some work on these issues. but if we acknowledge that domestic and sexual abuse aren't one-sided then the b******ized intersectionality advocates have nothing to advance the idea of a black patriarchy.

How is this even a rebuttal to what I said, nobody said they couldn’t be victimized, I just said black women aren’t all constantly victims of black men

They are whether it’s consciously or not. They’re oppressed

not the "black empowerment" thread being infested with anti-black male rhetoric 🙃

It’s also funny seeing you pop up and saying something when it’s about this

saw the thread on the first page when i opened up the site and my curiosity was peaked, it's not like i expect to find any valuable information on black empowerment on ktt2 so i don't have any reason to actively seek this thread out.

you gonna engage with any of my other comments or are you gonna keep quoting this one though?

Lol. there’s plenty information here that you can clearly see just off the op post but you choose to ignore and not even attempt to look before coming to a conclusion, so that’s on you.

Secondly you’re bringing up male sexual assault victims. What the f*** am I gonna y’all about with you? We were specifically talking about straight black males privilege over black women and gay black men. Instead of even attempting to discuss it or look at it you wanna go “black males get sexually assaulted too, And it’s based on outadated definition of spouse violence”
You’re clearly wrong and changing the entire topic

So a link about gay black men, and a ktt2 thread is gon put me on about the oppression we been talking about, and that black male privilege list is ridiculous, most of them were just male female issues applied to black people, others were just stupid like the money shot one, and some of them were just untrue like it’s okay to be hella fat,

not you attempting to change the subject and then projecting that back on to me.

and the notion of black male patriarchy or privilege is rooted in the conception of IPV, sexual abuse and pathologizing black men as violent. pointing to statistics which show that amongst every racial group in the US, those issues are the most bidirectional in the black community challenges that very notion. and i'm very aware of the "black male privilege checklist", frankly it's bullshit, can you point to some examples of black male privilege that are systemic and consistent with other forms of oppression?

You are getting presented facts and firsthand experiences of black womens struggles, oppression and disrespect from black men and keep saying it’s not there or what about black womens who f*** over black men. It has no correlation in what is being said

And I still haven’t seen a firsthand experience from any of these articles, there were no anecdotes about black women in any of them

so we're talking about opinion pieces which are less reliable than anecdotes which are less reliable than empirical data?

so are you going to provide examples of black male privilege that are systemic and consistent with other forms of oppression? im genuinely interested but all i ever get is someone telling me to read "we real cool" which ive already read and confirms to me that the concept is rooted in pathologizing black men.

since i got called out for not participating in this thread enough, maybe we can have a side conservation about a similar topic?

dr. stacey patton makes the argument that childism is a form of oppression within intracommunal black relationships. im not sure if im fully on board with that because there are so many outside conditions not within our power which contribute to the way black adults mistreat children, but there is really not many ways in which a child can harm an adult, specifically their parent/guardian(s) in a comparable way. thoughts?

Nah I kinda get it, I feel like by time most black kids are like 15 their minds are like someone in their twenties, they expected to act right and take care of themselves like they grown but at the same time be treated like children

yeah facts, and most of the "undesirable" behaviors by black kids are imprinted on them by adults, for the most part they arent allowed to express themselves like other children and are taught to be respectable within the white gaze.

most of patton's work focuses on the public abuse and humiliation black kids are subjected to by their parents. cant tell you the amount of times i would scroll through facebook back when i was still active there and see videos of black parents beating the hell out of a kid with a bunch of comments in support of it, talking about "it builds character" and "i got beat and im fine". verbal abuse also can have a serious effect on the psyche of kids, our kids definitely deserve better.

Definitely, I always wondered why parents did that s***, what does your child learn from being embarrassed in front of all of their family members, if anything it just creates resentment, it’s crazy how much the internet changed the way people interact with their families

Ion know I feel like most parts of black culture that people can feel comfortable in have been pieced up and sold to everybody else, hopefully one day something new comes along that doesn’t get hijacked to serve some kind of societal function

  • Sep 29, 2020

Hopefully something changes by time I end up havin kids cause I wouldn’t want them to be livin in a world like this

    https://www.deanza.edu/faculty/lewisjulie/The%20Black%20Male%20Privilege%20Checklist.pdf

Black men are factually at the bottom of every socio-economic metric in this country. Literally nothing on this list has anything to do with wielding actual systemic power over anyone.

"35. I can wear a shirt that others and I commonly refer to as a "wife beater" and never have the language challenged."
"37. Many of my favorite genres of films, such as martial arts, are based on violence."
"53. I can spend endless hours watching sports TV and have it considered natural."

This list is so mind numbingly stupid. Lmaoooooooo

    EDIT:

    12. I do not have to worry about the daily hassles of having my hair conforming to any standard image of beauty the
    way black women do.

Didn't that one boy get kicked outta school for dreads and was on Ellen last year?

    21. I can live in a world where polygamy is still an option for men in the United States as well as around the world.
    38. I have the privilege of popularizing or consuming the idea of a thug, which is based on the violence and
victimization of others with virtually no opposition from other men.
    49. I will make significantly more money as a professional athlete than members of the opposite s***will.
    59. I am able to play sports outside without my shirt on and it not be considered a problem.
    69. In college, black male professors will be involved in interracial marriages at much higher rates than members of
    the opposite s***will.
    83. In the Black Church, the majority of the pastoral leadership is male.
    66. In college, I will have the opportunity to date outside of the race at a much higher rate than black women will.

Was this list written by a middle schooler pretending what it would be like to write in college? Damn near everything on this list is some silly ass "what aboutism".
