nope never seen or heard of it
gaslighter
Maybe I posted a single by him or something that I listened to twice and forgot about but I've never had him on my iTunes. Doesn't look or sound familiar.
This rules
you hear some King Crimson in there? if you played me that and told me it was a lost bonus track by KC i would believe you, singer is uncanny

did i ever tell you that old hippie psych lord absolutely worships in a gadda da vida
was gonna check out more iron butterfly albums some time because an old youtuber whose taste i respect immensely was talking about it and giving them high praise. i guess they really hit differently for those who were around when they came out

thats cool ngl but it still annoys me most of the runtime. dudes proto-metal yowl doesnt do it for me, nor does his lower register voice. i respect the range tho i guess.
about as good a psychedelic poet as Eric Burdon .

i like the stupid bizarre poetry and weird twisted carnivalesque atmosphere. also some of the slight proto prog stuff. intro is also pretty epic for me when the keyboard riffs first enter. im also a fan of that keyboardist vincent crcane's later hard/prog band Atomic Rooster in general, he was definitely in the vein of deep purple/uriah heep type heavy organ/keyboard dudes that could be the center of the band
3000 people ate one strawberry!!

also that could've been one of the only albums he had for years back when it was much harder to track s*** down. im lucky i got put on Triangle and Forever Changes and s*** right off the bat.

for some people yeah but these were the type of dudes that were truly in the know and worshiping Love back in those days
doubt he was on group 1850 tier stuff on its release though
i think its just the heaviness of iron butterfly, vanilla fudge, blue cheer that was so shocking to them at the time they hold it in a regard we can't. and the heavyhandedness a part of the charm

yeah its under the same "Do Not Touch" category as Silver Apples and Incredible String Band for me
Time/Confusion and Child Of My Kingdom both start strong but he f***ing butchers them
how about the legendary (to some) Sea Shanties by High Tide :datass: heaviest riff recorded to that point

i dont believe anybody that was truly stanning Love could also stan Iron Butterfly or Blue Cheer on the same level
such a huge gap between artful, delicate transcendence and bonehead party rock it makes my heard hurt.

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpBCXof2qCcthis is still not heavier than Old Man Going. the urgency injected by the dread acoustic guitars adds an edge of menace which adds to the heaviness but also the heaviness that this cant touch.

put yourself into the mind of a teenager taking a s*** ton of d**** in 1967-1969 and i can definitely see it
imagine what their parents were listening to. etc.
not saying same level though since it seems like all those type of people literally have forever changes as their #1 album. plus maybe they liked Forever Changes at first, but it grew to an all time goat where iron butterfly they still loved but stayed more as nostalgia youth music

stan bias detected
disagree on the acoustic guitars having anything to do with the heaviness. it just makes it a cool ass intro. guitar tone is also much more distorted and production helps High Tide more. i think i told you before but Defecting Grey is equally heavier or heavier than old man going to me. that intro is just kinda goofy rather than menacing tho ill admit
old man going not shaking the room like futilist's lament. there's a lot more bass to the guitar tone
was about to post something from the superior parachute but realized its 1970 and not 1969

i can absolutely put myself in the headspace of 50s early 60s teenagers and imagine how amazing the pop would be but the bar was dramatically higher by this point. idk man i never liked any of this super heavy clubfooted blooze s***. even when i was a teenager and even when it was Zeppelin. if your album isn't gonna have any melodies for me to cherish then it needs to be a literal relentless but artfully done Hellscape like Fun House.
