I got like 14 minutes left but it’s honestly not that unlikeable an ending in the anime man. Isayama been said that the anime is THE vessel of this series, and I think he did everything in his power to make that so
It still comes down to where you can stomach the reasoning from Eren or not but even that feels better explained here
Levi obliterating the Beast Titan was the most hype I ever was reading a manga panel. What a ride
Pig Titan was mad overpowered
That ugly s*** had me cryin lmao might’ve been the first real laughter of the show
Also didn’t know that was a real animal

I think this manga may be the most hyped manga you can experience, at least from this millennium
The whole run from chapter 119 to I believe chapter 124 was god tier writing. Gabi blowing Eren’s head off outta nowhere. Eren baiting his father from the future. Reiner and Bertholdt being caught. Zeke exploding the cart with Levi on it. Gabi blowing Sasha away
Isayama was so f***ing good at building suspenseful moments.
I also give this series all the props in the world for indirectly putting me on to Code Geass lol
I will say, in Isayama’s defense, it’s so much easier to do that type of bait and switch when the scope is as small as what they did with Lelouch. With this show, Eren is the plot driver of the cycle of hatred they’ve displayed, but he also has to fit in this whole time travel aspect that he did so well for most of the chapter. I don’t think CG has any time travel iirc

I made this s***ty meme solely off the hype I was feeling back then.
I was screaming when I saw Erens face with this declaration

Had the same reaction as the manga. Great great ending but terrible justification of actions going on. that I did this just because I wanted you to be heroes bit is so corny to me like we’re talking about eradicating 80% of humanity and not even all of your friends are gonna make it with the 20% so how devoid of humanity do u have to be to kill 80% of it just to keep your cozy little friend group alive? And he also died in the process I feel like there was another way but if I have some misunderstanding I’d love if someone explains it better also idk if the armin dialogue on the beach is the added part but it also didn’t make sense to me felt very unlike Armin to act like a master manipulator
| |Humanity treated his kind like s***
He saw his aunt being murdered by dogs by them. F*** humanity Eren was right if 80% was the price to keep his own friends alive then it was the right choice.
It shouldve been 100% f*** em all | |
I forgot about the one where the kid (think it was Falco) brings Reiner in and he sees Eren
From basically S3 Part 2’s chapters on, Isayama was undefeated
EREN JAEGER IS THE GOAT
A GOD AMONST GODS
Only way to truly react to this story
I felt sad when the Manga ended. But f*** man it’s really over now…

I just downloaded the entire series bout to read it for the first time on my spare time at work and what not

Oh man f*** yes enjoy that
Can’t wait until the reaction compilations drop fam. Interested to see how others take it. I know the bigger channels will be a bit vanilla but I appreciate the community all the same
If that was the ending that the manga fans were complaining about then idk what to say
My heart is broken
Slept on it, and I actually think as f***ed as the ending is… it’s the most “realistic”. Usually in life, things aren’t that dense at all. It could be a very simple reason that’s hidden behind mystery. Once that mystery gets unfolded, it’s never the same intensity. Eren is just a guy, an idiot like he says.
Still a couple things that make me question:
I always thought Mikasa had some hidden power. From the “lost girls” OVA, to the scarf being so significant. I truly believed SHE was the God of the world and had Eren (and everybody else) trapped in time.
Eren’s Titan changes form a couple of times pre-Warhammer. Wtf was that about?
Yelena… is there nothing more to her than being a lost Zeke sympathizer?
What was the point of making Historia a big plot point with a huge let down?
What’s with the baby in red at the end? What’s the significance there?
Is Eren a bird?
I don't think anyone who replied touched on this part, but the baby was just supposed to be a display of innocence and some fledgling of human decency amongst the tragedy of people literally pushing each other to their death. Realistically to everyone who kept the baby going (at least at that moment), that baby was as likely to die as everyone who went off that cliff and them themselves, but there still remained some amount of good in them that shed through the fear (big theme)
That's how I interpreted it, and it's actually the only scene that really had me hella emotional in the episode
If that was the ending that the manga fans were complaining about then idk what to say
A bunch of cry babies because they wanted to see Eren burn the world and become king or some dumb s***
Let the author finish his story how he sees it. Tragic

The anime handled the ending much better tbh

Maybe I’m talking too soon then because I haven’t seen it yet
Some of us initially thought Chapter 139.5 was just a response to some holes that fans were very loud about (I'm still pretty sure that's what it was, Isayama was very willing to respond to critiques), but in any case, it definitely feels it adds alot of value to the theme of cycles + obviously overtly explains the influence Mikasa had on Ymir
I think us manga onlies were already too dispirited to appreciate the ending no matter what Isayama did, but I'm glad the anime watchers get to have what does amount to some touching closure
