16gb ram?
Edit: 8gb is enough apparently for 4k. They go for around 1000-1100 here so this might be the move
also consider a refurbished m1/2 air btw..
my iphone 13 pro max battery handled my day to day way better than my 15 pro max, kinda weird
3 days in with my b-stock M2 Pro 16GB/12/19/1TB and Logic is running like an absolute dream
My i5 2018 MBP with the equivalent specs lasted 5 years and feels like molasses compared to this. Hell of an upgrade
Son Apple does not drop the prices for the refurbed joint do they lool
Keep an eye on reddit
Apple doesn't but Amazon and BHPhoto come through with wild deals sometimes.

just said F it and got a M1 Pro (I guess its a chip also called the pro lol) Pro with 16 GB off of Best Buy. There was one that was a bit cheaper on Apple refurbed a couple days ago, but they're starting to be snatched up like crazy
I been trapping off a 2016 with 8 GB so it was time to move on up

maybe passable for 4K editing where you don’t use any kind of graphics or effects.
as soon as project complexity goes up (trust me it will go up quickly) you’re gonna regret only having 8GB RAM and will be looking at Pro/Max chips.
Anyone tried the MacBookPro M3 for music production?
Hoping to upgrade from my 2018 model soon

whatever you do choose at least 16GB RAM.
24GB or M3 Pro and more RAM if you use a lot of effects and VSTS.
need a MacBook pro for video editing. I use Premiere and davinci. 4k resolution and many stacked layers and color editing. Playback has to be smooth. Also do lots of Lightroom and Photoshop. What m3 or m2 MacBook should i get, what features?
it's kinda annoying that they're trying to make M3 Max the go to for all professionals
also extremely annoyed that you can't get a 16 inch 1TB standard spec without either customizing (which takes at least a month to get) or getting M3 Max

Yeah if you're coming from an intel chip of any kind, much less 8GB on it, it's like night and day
Congrats fam!

FWIW: I came from a 2018 i5 16GB MBP and I'm now running the M2 Pro 16GB 12/19 1TB model for a setup consisting of 4 pieces of hardware all being live processed with instances of Shaperbox, various Valhalla effects, and sidechain compression along with at least a couple tracks of VSTs (3 instances of Serum, 1 imagiro piano, and 7 instances of Alchemy in my current project) running through the new master FX and this thing has yet to even turn the fans on. It's insane and the refurb/b-stock prices are great.
Anyone here with experience going from 16” to 14”? (Pause) do you regret it or do you like it

I’m hoping to get the full spec 126 gb ram 🤞
Do you how loud the fans are and how good the battery life is?

I can’t use personal reference since I haven’t gotten mine yet, but from the hundreds of anecdotal evidence I’ve looked at these last few weeks, I think ur gonna have to start at 16 GB of memory. That being said, I’ve seen quite a few people accomplish what you mentioned with 16 GB only
May not be too helpful a response but basically, I wouldn’t do 8 GB if I was you
Being able to have a browser and OBS open or Logic Pro + a browser is gonna be uncharted territory

yep it should be able to easily handle that cause I can get away with that on my 8gb m1, although I like to keep the browser closed just to keep swap memory low (I'm uselessly worried about that)

They say that if it has to swap memory from the SSD or w/e, that actually f***s the macbook up. Is that true?

I got the M2 Max and use both Premiere and Davinci. No problems.

If you were pushing it in the red on memory pressure every day it might in like a decade. Generally it’s nothing to worry about.
