    It was also on cwss

That’s my point though. Like Cole had hits in the sense of popular songs already but was doubting himself and Jay Z basically did no favors to instill confidence in him which led to some of that bad results on CW:SS

The beat on that song is so f***in awful

Plus it’s insane that Jays given Meek, Jeezy, Drake, Kanye etc… all time classic verses and this weak bullshit is the only Hov feature on a Cole project. That unironically makes the song worse in hindsight

Jay and Ye are weird man, they supposedly hate Drake but will do the most for him

It’s pissing me off just thinking about it man

DJ Khaled gets 5 Jay Z features

    Cole gets 1

  • Thank God he signed to Hov and not Dre, close call frfr

Was still trash and a waste of a Jay feature

Song is worth it for the call back to it in Tale of Two Cities

At some point I really did think damn does he actually fw J Cole

“Drake’s up next see what he do with it” - Jay
    - Cole

    this part always kills me

  • Classique

Drake and Cole were talking at the Grammy's or some industry part and Jay said Drake "What are you doing give this guy a hit". Jay treated Cole terribly

    yeah this is crazy work

I think this says more about Cole being good at reflecting and tying things back to his past as we see with Disc 2 Track 2, but I don't agree that it makes it worth it.

    Nice point to make tho

Deep down inside they both wish they signed Drake and resent the artists they actually signed. There’s no other reason for Kanye to hate Sean and for Jay to hate Cole as much as they clearly do

People getting hyped for that jay Nas Collab on a DJ Khaled song when they already had a way better one with Success had me disappointed

  • Jay lowkey treated Cole like a Make-A-Wish kid

  • LickMyBalls

    Not a hit

very organic hit. this is highkey what made him popular

Just doing a little guessing here but I feel like at that point he didn’t really care as much about Roc Nation to be directly involved like he was with Roc-a-Fella. It’s actually kind of jarring when you think about it because that really was the era to have your label pushed. MMG, Young Money, TDE and GOOD all were eating heavy in that era

I can see this, especially with Jay. The Sean hate from Ye was surprising to me

At the end of the day it's just business it's the same as Cole singing his own artists and not doing a lot for them and Cole is more relevant today musically than Jay

    Vicious cycle

The fact they had to be on the album period is Jays fault

Workout and definitely can’t get enough arent the reason Sideline story was so successful

The fan base Cole had is the reason

Rocafella in the early 00s was a perfect storm: Kanye was the secret weapon Jay could deploy before ye got big in his own right. Then you had Hov hopping on white-hot hits like Fiesta, and the whole build up to his retirement.

Jay didn't have that same wind under his wings like before, even though he was still popular. GOOD Music was a juggernaut, Young Money was being run by what many considered during that time to be Wayne at the peak of his powers, MMG also doing it thing, but the common denominator among all three that they had over ROC was a roaster.

ridiculous, dre skimmed it and inserted his horrible headphones verse

nigga Cole has given all his Dreamville artists multiple placements

he had THREE label compilation albums, one of which had industry niggas mad they didnt get invited to the sessions lol

created a festival where every artist on the label had an automatic set

this a lazy ass take, Cole has put in way more effort than Hov has as a boss
