Yeah, that scene was cool too. Lots of great scenes actually.
But the fireflies scene in particular hit different for me personally. I still get chills watching it.
It's been a while since I watched the anime. I remember the scene that hit me was the scene where he played piano for the first time in years and it looks like he was underwater and couldn't hear the notes, really all the concert scenes are great.
This documentary celebrates the legacy and influence of Satoshi Kon’s work, both in Japan and abroad. It features interviews with fellow anime directors including Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell) and Mamoru Hosoda (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time), as well as overseas admirers such as Darren Aronofsky (who included an homage to Kon in Requiem for a Dream) and Rodney Rothman (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse). “An intoxicating celebration of an astonishing talent cruelly cut down in his prime, Vincent's film serves as an enthusiastic eulogy for long-time fans, but also as a tantalising eye-opener to the as-yet uninitiated.” (James Marsh, South China Morning Post).

There’s different timelines, but there’s good series you can watch as a stand-alone like Gundam Wing or Iron Blooded Orphans.

yes and no. yes - there are multiple gundam series but no - some of them take place in different timelines or are standalones so you dont have to watch every single one to get the full understanding of gundam
i can recommend some if you’d like

So it's like Star Wars with plotlines being so far apart in their timelines?
Or just a long running soap opera?

theres not much info on this one so if its a standalone series then you might be able to see it without watching any other gundams

The art is so pretty and the character designs are really good. I just want the writing to pick up if there is ever a season 2
