never doubted u goat

I am recommending Empire of the Sun - Walking on a Dream
U probably heard the title track before but I had this album ran back all the time in high school, esp like sophomore year, this is prob the first (indie...ish) electronic album I ever heard
Available on DSPs, if u see only anniversary editions just stop after track 10 - Without You (or keep listening, i just don't know the bonus tracks)
Also it took me forever to think of an album I actually know that has an animal on the cover lol I was gonna recommend Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys if I didn't think of this just now

Nice. I've already heard Pet Sounds so it's good you chose this. I was torn between my Year of The Cat and Paul Simon's Graceland but I thought you might've heard Graceland before.
@Hndrxx_Free where ur review? :(
@tuneout a bit late but its been some hectics weeks but listened
I was surprised this some good shi
Its lowkey music, just him and the vocals and the guitar but its good he got a good singing voice, at first i was surprised at how his voice sounded but after the first song i was like yeah this nigga talented
Dont got like an standout song, but it felt like a good body of work that complements itself and flows. Def a u put it from start to finish to listen everytime. In some ways it doesnt sound from the 70s but a little more ahead of its time too
Def getting more spins, thanks for the recommendation def a good one. U got the sauce brother

To add a little bit of preface, Bjork is one of those artists that I've always heard songs or feats here and there from her but never rlly sat and listened to a whole album. So this was a good time to check one out.
Now on to the album itself. On first listen it like there was so much going on between her style of singing and how layered the production itself was which didn't make for a easy casual listening. But as I kept listening I started to get it more. From opening with such an ominous robotic sound which goes into some beautiful strings on the chorus in Hidden Place to then go into a more calming simplistic prod on Cocoon.
The way she sings often times made it hard for me to really pay attention to what she was singing about so I mostly just tried to take it how she utilizes her vocals with the music on each track. Tho my fav vocal performance on the album has to be on Pagan Poetry and it might be my fav song on it. It just builds up so nicely into the "I love him I love him" catsky and then the background vocals with "she loves him she loves him" catsky
The mini interlude Frosti is also a nice highlight for me as its a rlly chill instrumental leading into Aurora. The latter half of the album kinda blends a bit too much for my liking (save for Heirloom) until the final track Unison which is a beautiful closer.
Overall enjoyable album and I'd be open to checking out more
7.5/10
