This is the best movie of the 2020s for me
Also might be the closest hitting movie I've seen in years
Wow
i literally cannot stop thinking about this movie. so gentle yet so harrowing once it all comes together. the "Under Pressure" scene makes me cry even just thinking about it.
when you realize that Calum killed himself after that trip and the strobe scenes are indicative of Sophie's fleeting memories and moments... also the fact that he bought the expensive rug as a final lavish gift for Sophie before he does commit suicide. f\*\*\*ing incredible film.

Strobe scene & final shot were amazing

Not fully sure. To me, the fact she sees him at the rave and she’s grown and he’s still the same age as he was when she was 11 hints at the fact that the father did indeed off himself

Beautiful film full of strong direction, composition and transitions with a terrific central performance from the 2 leads. Love the subtle 90s vibes

I don’t think he killed himself and don’t think it’s really relevant either. I think he’s simply out of her life and likely left soon after that trip. I think it’s important that it’s vague, the point isn’t that he killed himself, it’s more specifically about the pain and shame he had in not being able to provide for his daughter and how that led him to feel the need to leave her life in any way. So the focus is less on suicide specifically

He definitely showed signs of being suicidal but I agree that’s not the main point or relevancy. More so a father not being in his daughters life anymore, regardless of how he left

I disagree on the question of suicide not being relevant. In part, this is bc I think the movie creates space for Calum to have a life that isn’t totally defined by his relationship to his daughter. He has many issues w mental health and adulting that are compounded by the additional fact of having a kid. We are seeing things from the daughter’s perspective but he has his own life, and the question of it’s outcome makes the film a bit of a mourning in multiple ways
Though, with all that being said, I respect your perspective and will keep it in mind
can't stop thinking about that last scene man
nice, I’m crying again
