I think it’s a combination of a lot of things.

I think we’ve been straight starving for a comedy.
I know I’ve been starving for something original that feels genuine, and exciting, and also I can show it to the homies who don’t f*** with film like that. That’s an incredibly rare thing.
We were also starving for something hopeful. An ode to kindness. I love how this is the antidote to Rick and Morty’s nihilism. Nothing matters. But that’s what’s so wonderful about life. Nothing matters, so go be a superhero.

Being able to juggle all those ideas and tones is super impressive. Just as impressive as Parasite. And honestly, I like these characters more than the Parasite ones.

When you go down the list of awards this film potentially deserves, you literally start checking like every box.

I didn't actually shed any tears lol, but the part when she finally reconciles with her daughter definitely was one of those scenes that make you wanna cry

Also when she is staring at her husband and she is experiencing all of the realites with him

I think the latter part was feeling inducing. But the mother daughter situation was super flat for me. And the everything bagel thing was just kinda lame. Felt like adventure time episode

No one, I'm saying you can be truthful without being negative. When I think of being negative in truthful discourse I think of those nitpicky, CinemaSins type a******s who miss the entire point of the work they're critiquing

Well yeah there’s a difference between being negative to be negative and being negative cause that’s genuinely how you feel.

I’m by nature a highly critical person, and whenever I go to a movie with a friend, and they like it more than me, I get really uncomfortable. They seem to tense up and get insecure if I express any negative thoughts so I tend to just shut up and suppress my emotions in order to make other people feel better.

Yeah like when a lot of big budget superhero films do silly s***, they're doing it at the expense of undercutting the drama and intensity of an important scene.

The silly humor was embedded in this movie's DNA type s*** lol

I can understand not liking the bagel. I think you have the strongest case for that being corny, moreso than anything else.

Yeah that’s also why Thor Ragnarok is my favorite MCU movie. It’s in the DNA.

+the buttplug award was funny but then the butt plug fight scene for me was trying too hard to be funny, same w the sausage fingers bit, and the rock w subtitle scene was also corny to me, also daughters costumes were really bad and some parts of the movie felt/looked cheap

mostly just not my type of humor + some aesthetic criticism but other than that i enjoyed it.

But here's the thing though and a lot of KTT niggas do this

"Damn I really like (insert movie), might have been movie of the year in my personal opinon"

"This definitely wasn't the movie of the year you're going off of hype, (lists other movies)"

Like yeah you can genuinely feel that way but you're still being a d***head.

Movie criticism cool and all that but folks don't just take into the account that certain s*** just resonated with people or spoke to different people in different ways.

Like I said earlier, and this is not me coming at anybody but the s*** with Joy and Evelyn is convos I've literally had so it's gonna hit a bit harder for me than it might others.

Critiques are different obviously but yea

I feel like the sausage fingers bit was a bit much but it also foreshadowed her being skilled with her feet which she later used in the fight scene on the steps

Yeah, humor (and corniness) is highly subjective.

What I liked about the rock scene was, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen subtitles so expertly paced. That fuck. Come on now, that hit. I didn’t just read that, I heard it too.

If we being honest Parasite didn’t have the best characters lol. Prolly the only downside of that movie. But Bong doesn’t do things like ā€œwrite a character biosā€ so I would say that’s the reason why.

But with this I’m glad it has a theme and something it’s tryna say rather than just being a wild action multi verse movie

Yeah, you can’t argue with personal opinion haha. It comes down to different value sets. I value things which are highly original. I don’t often care much about the subject of the movie. For someone else, it’s different. If you wanna argue objectivity, I think there’s room for debate there. But subjective is all you, baby.

Lol wait why would anyone be offended over you not liking a movie? It's not like its their movie you're disliking, that I could understand. But neither have no personal involvement with it

I thought the hot dog hands was handled really well. It wasn't just a silly bit, it actually tied in to them using their feet to do s\*\*\* which lead to her literally kicking the bad guys ass when her hands was tied up
