I think itās a combination of a lot of things.
I think weāve been straight starving for a comedy.
I know Iāve been starving for something original that feels genuine, and exciting, and also I can show it to the homies who donāt f*** with film like that. Thatās an incredibly rare thing.
We were also starving for something hopeful. An ode to kindness. I love how this is the antidote to Rick and Mortyās nihilism. Nothing matters. But thatās whatās so wonderful about life. Nothing matters, so go be a superhero.
Being able to juggle all those ideas and tones is super impressive. Just as impressive as Parasite. And honestly, I like these characters more than the Parasite ones.
When you go down the list of awards this film potentially deserves, you literally start checking like every box.
or you could just be truthful without being a d*** lmao
Who was being a d***?
I didn't actually shed any tears lol, but the part when she finally reconciles with her daughter definitely was one of those scenes that make you wanna cry
Also when she is staring at her husband and she is experiencing all of the realites with him
I think the latter part was feeling inducing. But the mother daughter situation was super flat for me. And the everything bagel thing was just kinda lame. Felt like adventure time episode
Who was being a d***?
No one, I'm saying you can be truthful without being negative. When I think of being negative in truthful discourse I think of those nitpicky, CinemaSins type a******s who miss the entire point of the work they're critiquing

I liked that the film wasnt afraid to be silly af
Just gotta agree to disagree

Well yeah thereās a difference between being negative to be negative and being negative cause thatās genuinely how you feel.
Iām by nature a highly critical person, and whenever I go to a movie with a friend, and they like it more than me, I get really uncomfortable. They seem to tense up and get insecure if I express any negative thoughts so I tend to just shut up and suppress my emotions in order to make other people feel better.

Yeah like when a lot of big budget superhero films do silly s***, they're doing it at the expense of undercutting the drama and intensity of an important scene.
The silly humor was embedded in this movie's DNA type s*** lol
this. especially the bagel part.
I can understand not liking the bagel. I think you have the strongest case for that being corny, moreso than anything else.

Yeah thatās also why Thor Ragnarok is my favorite MCU movie. Itās in the DNA.

+the buttplug award was funny but then the butt plug fight scene for me was trying too hard to be funny, same w the sausage fingers bit, and the rock w subtitle scene was also corny to me, also daughters costumes were really bad and some parts of the movie felt/looked cheap
mostly just not my type of humor + some aesthetic criticism but other than that i enjoyed it.

But here's the thing though and a lot of KTT niggas do this
"Damn I really like (insert movie), might have been movie of the year in my personal opinon"
"This definitely wasn't the movie of the year you're going off of hype, (lists other movies)"
Like yeah you can genuinely feel that way but you're still being a d***head.
Movie criticism cool and all that but folks don't just take into the account that certain s*** just resonated with people or spoke to different people in different ways.
Like I said earlier, and this is not me coming at anybody but the s*** with Joy and Evelyn is convos I've literally had so it's gonna hit a bit harder for me than it might others.
Critiques are different obviously but yea

I feel like the sausage fingers bit was a bit much but it also foreshadowed her being skilled with her feet which she later used in the fight scene on the steps

Yeah, humor (and corniness) is highly subjective.
What I liked about the rock scene was, I donāt know if Iāve ever seen subtitles so expertly paced. That fuck. Come on now, that hit. I didnāt just read that, I heard it too.

If we being honest Parasite didnāt have the best characters lol. Prolly the only downside of that movie. But Bong doesnāt do things like āwrite a character biosā so I would say thatās the reason why.
But with this Iām glad it has a theme and something itās tryna say rather than just being a wild action multi verse movie

Yeah, you canāt argue with personal opinion haha. It comes down to different value sets. I value things which are highly original. I donāt often care much about the subject of the movie. For someone else, itās different. If you wanna argue objectivity, I think thereās room for debate there. But subjective is all you, baby.
this. especially the bagel part.
yeah that bagel s*** was wacky af lol but they had it everywhere. Like the tax paper and the dark circle draw around it.

Lol wait why would anyone be offended over you not liking a movie? It's not like its their movie you're disliking, that I could understand. But neither have no personal involvement with it
Did anyone else feel like the dog scene was operating on different logic than the rest of the film?

Plus if you're familliar with these directors work you know they gonna do silly s***. I mean they first major movie was about a farting corpse lmao
I can understand not liking the bagel. I think you have the strongest case for that being corny, moreso than anything else.
I thought the hot dog hands was handled really well. It wasn't just a silly bit, it actually tied in to them using their feet to do s\*\*\* which lead to her literally kicking the bad guys ass when her hands was tied up

Facts, i dont know if people seen Swiss Army Man first tho lmao
