aglowOne of the mfs I saw it with kept saying "man this is so stupid" completely missing the whole point of the movie.
Funnily enough I noticed there's a part where Gong Gong himself says "this is so stupid" - not to any of the crazy visual s*** that's happening, but as a response to Evelyn's emotional breakthrough. Which I thought was a cool way to contrast how some audiences may feel.
But man, that whole scene of choosing to "fight with kindness" in SPITE of the chaos, in spite of the lack of apparent meaning, in spite of our insignificance as humans, BLEW. ME. AWAY.
Such an important and powerful message.
I really believe this movie has the potential to be life-changing (and even life-saving) for some people.
The point is life is stupid. Thats why when people call this Reddit humor I get a little confused. Because the internet is part of what it is poking fun at. This movie is part meme movie bait. When the internet actually sees this nearly every single frame is an reaction gif.

The point is life is stupid. Thats why when people call this Reddit humor I get a little confused. Because the internet is part of what it is poking fun at. This movie is part meme movie bait. When the internet actually sees this nearly every single frame is an reaction gif.

Yeah for sure.
I honestly think elements of what the movie is trying to say will go over some people's heads. Because they will only focus on the visually absurd aspects, without grasping the meaning behind them.

Apr 8, 2022My goodness. Best film I’ve seen this year, one of the best I’ve ever seen in a theater. The multiverse / comedy stuff was all amazing but I didn’t expect it to be as emotional as it was. I teared up / cried like 5 different times and immediately texted my mom and told her how much I loved her when it was over. The third act was brilliant.

Nah this definitely a movie where you can quietly whisper to a friend I am not talking screaming. Its an audience participation movie it wants to see you emote. It is a psychadelic captcha test on who after the cycle of news and daily death counts is still human

Yes. 100%. And I loved No Way Home, but this movie is just on a different level.

Yeah, the intent of the movie is fairly apparent, just a lot of people can’t see past the eccentricities (like the bagel for instance).
