I think I like this as much as Heaven based on the first two listens.
Hard to top Safe, as it's of my favorite albums of the last decade.

Meteora Blues was my most anticipated song and it became the one I like the least

Yeah it's kind of dry in some way, too sterile, and has a weird mixing, hope it grows on me

no way you can deny that Ebony Eye, Operator, and Heaven Surrounds us are top tier

Meteora Blues, Ebony Eye, and In spite of war goes crazy.

Yeah so on first listen this was simply just fine, but easily their most underwhelming to date imo

A lot of the stuff on here feels samey and not in like a cohesive album kinda way

Do agree that the album's last portion is it's best part... feels more like the signature Yves stuff we know

Still upset that Operator got gutted so hard from its live version... s*** is really boring now

This still like a 7/10 cause it's Yves, but I def don't think imma be as crazy about this as I have been for their prior stuff

are u talking about from seeing it live or like some video people are referencing? cuz i heard it live and the track is a pretty great recording to my ears but people keep mentioning this

yea i heard it live probably quite early (oct 2021) and it just feels like the recording failed to capture that same energy

and even watching recordings of said live performances, the difference is pretty notable to me

also call me a nerd but i dont enjoy how some of these songs were mixed

the album was mixed by alan moulder who engineered loveless and mixed the downward spiral among other albums, and it definitely sounds like it

obviously whether u like it or not being subjective to the stylistic choices but i really like it. makes each disparate realm of influence the album has feel foreign to each other in a pleasing way imo
