tical was my first solo wu album. it'll always be a personal favorite of mine. i've defended that album more times than i can remember

So wassup?

It was a surprise that Ghost ended up having the most prolific solo career out of Wu. Meth had everything in him to become a superstar and for a moment he was up there with Nas, BIG and Snoop as the hottest rapper in the game.
I heard that ppl were expecting an Illmatic, Ready to Die tier debut from Meth. It's not all the way there but looking back it didn't have to be, RZA and Meth stayed true to the Wu's sound and kept it grimey and raw and still delivered the hits, there was one for the streets (Bring the Pain) and one the women (All I Need). The rest of the album goes crazy too.
50 was heavily influenced by Meth, I saw a vid where he talks of him as a hero. And Kendrick dressed up as Meth for Tical's 20 year anniversary in a legendary TV performance 4 years ago.
Bottom line, Tical is a classic and should be acknowledged as such!!

Ghost was somewhat of a underdog in the beginning. my brother told me ironman wasn't even received as positively (initially) as the others and that tical was a huge disappointment, considering meth's star presence and charisma. i'm glad that it's gotten more love over time and imo it's the closest in terms of recapturing the essence of 36 chambers, i've always felt like "wu-tang - 7th chamber part 2" was a precursor to the style of tical
Actually kind of sad Wu-Tang couldn't fully capitalise on the success of 36 Chambers as solo artists, RZA was a poor curator
