Idk. I felt like SL1 had a lot of inventiveness. Thug n Gunna don’t got any other collabs like Chains Choking Me. Dirty Shoes had that weird ass, cool ass bridge. STS had this smooth approach we hadn’t heard from him in years.

That’s not to mention how crazy Tsunami, Gain Clout, Audemar, etc were.

I mean, yes, that makes you a loser to some extent . Not wanting art, but saying it in that fake way where you celebrate the success in the same breath. I've never agreed with this reasoning in the context of Young Thug's projects or sound. Or others people say the same thing for like the weeknd, etc

This album has really great Young Thug songs. Be specific, was thugs verse on My City phoned in? Real? Diamonds dancing?

I get it we're all big fans and love when he stretches himself but this stuff isn't objective, and performing the whole " : / ugh happy for him but disappointed expected more" to signal that you like the "real" stuff is what's really a lame take, imo

Bro if you think this is on tier with his best work, idk what to tell you. I’m not sayin this mf gotta reinvent the wheel, but 90% of what he doin on here phoned in af. There was a time where he could hop on any beat, do damn near anything, and it would be interesting at the very least. Now he’s locked into a formula for his releases that portray a shell of what makes him a legend. That includes them verses u talkin about.

When an artist has been only gettin better and better over the span of their career... uhh why wouldn’t we expect more?

I agree with you, it's not that Thug isn't doing a great job. But this project and SMF do feel like a decline in quality compared to all the eras from RGTTP1 -> OTR

SS3 and B6 both took years to go gold... it took SMF a few months... now it’s platinum, and Slime & B will probably be gold this summer off one true single....

To answer I would not be fully content with leaks, but Thug has already put out so much great music I can’t expect him to stay creative forever I guess. Lots of my favorite rappers fell off sooner. That said I like this and SMF, is a bit watered down tho
