I’m slowly changing my opinion on the project

It’s full of bangers, and is very top heavy. The first half of the project is bangers.

And the YTB kid got real potential

i think the big issue with this album is that it leans so hard on features

This could’ve been a GREAT group tape based off songs like Slatty, Take it to Trial, or Paid the Fine where it’s like 3-4 YSL artists bouncing it off of each other with great production

instead, nearly half the album is basically solo YSL artists and only 3 songs have more than two people from YSL on them. It feels too much like they just wanted to throw out cool collabs instead o really bringing up everyone on YSL at once

i think more people would take the cool collabs its like the QC mixtapes where they just have a compilation album. thats why SL1 better imo this one gonna be more successful

Happy that thug is reapin the benefits of his years of work w this, but also bummed that it means we’re probably locked into bland releases from here on out. Bittersweet moment for sure.

I agree with this. I wish the tape had more of a ysl vibe. But thug said he wanted all his artist to feel like stars with this release and he picked the best way to do it and have them a great rollout for their solos

thug one of the most forward thinking people in the mainstream i’d rather see someone like lil baby or future drop their mid autopilot music than someone with actual potential like thug

Nah facts. Prior to this, SMF was Thug’s tamest project. But his feats on this are even more phoned in than that.

This IMO tells him that the general public prefers a milder version of Thug.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. SMF was definitely his least inventive project but I still thought it was great. Thug can sound like Thug without doing something crazy every time. SL1 didn't have much in the way of inventiveness from him, but he still dropped great/zanier music after that. I see these YSL projects as moments where he takes a backseat. I don't think he's just going to phone it in from now on.

Edit: but I do think you're right in that people do prefer a tamer version of him. Part of the reason I think lil baby blew up like he did

Yo I love the way super traditional white folks treat rap
I was naming the features on the album and as soon as a I said Travis he got dumb hype most stereotypical reaction from a 20 year old white rap fan
