Makes sense tbh
They also butchered it a couple times
"Bully" received better critical reception on Metacritic than "Donda".
"Bully": 55/100
"Donda": 53/100
Honestly i would disagree with worse and worse. I dont think its been a consistent downward slope like that.
I would take donda and bully over ye and jik easy personally (and i quite liked vultures) But would agree none touch tlop. And ofc we havr complete trash like donda 2 and vulture 2 in there too
Yeah i said with a few exceptions cause i do think donda and viltures 1 were a bit better
Since when did TLOP gain this classic status lol?
I mean, I like the album but Iām seeing it get ranked higher and higher every year

About a week after it came out
47% of Metacritic needs to find God
True.
This albumās at least a 70/100.
Politics & ideologies aside.
Amazing music, amazing moments and rollout associated with it, iconic merch and long lasting hits. Everything required for it to be a classic.
The new fans who came with fresh set of ears love it for what it is, a great album.
Old fans still desire the approach he had before and are too rigid to give it an honest listen.
Most complaints people have against it don't make much sense, the biggest being filler tracks, like it has less of those than TCD which has way more skits.
If you sit down and listen to it in isolation (keeping your expectations and prior notions aside), you will love it more.
Also the argument that fans just like it more cause they didn't grow up with OG Trilogy+808s+MBDTF just don't make sense in streaming era, most people have heard those but Pablo is good enough where someone might prefer it over them. Graduation is one of the most streamed albums daily, people still listen to the old music, it's not that they only listen to the new things hence they like it more. It's just evolving tastes.
It's a compilation of great songs.
It not being sonically coherent is what gives it its charm & what makes it stand out.
It was a huge decline from his previous work lyrically (aside from a few tracks), but it was obvious he was set out to make another mainstream success.
Which it ended up being
It's his last GREAT album imo.
Y'all can argue it's a classic.
For me "Yeezus" is his last classic & of course the Pre-Kardashian era records are cemented.

You know sonically the album's gonna' be insane, but I just hope Ye can match Travs energy.

Besides Breathe In, whatās the filler on TCD?
Maaaaaaaybe School Spirirt, but thatās about it

love how every album era theres one character like this with kanye who then just disappears when next album era start
most of the fans now are those who missed 2004-2011 and became fans post Yeezus thanks to the shoes and TLOP
Agreed
And look, Iām not taking anything away from TLOP.
Itās a very fun album with a great rollout and era.
But I think that those moments overshadow the actual music.
TLOP feels more like a collection of songs rather than a cohesive album.
Once again - very good songs, but to place it on the same level as TCD, 808s,YEEZUS, or even BULLY for that matter just seems extreme.
Objectively, the production and content on BULLY is better than TLOP.
Wait a minute I just realised this looks like a blacked .com video thumbnail
Sorry, Iām not familiar with whatever it is you are talking about
Like I'm sure there's people on here that think Get Em High is a better song than Highlights, which is crazy to me personally
You like to listen to raps bout blac chyna f***ing rob kardashian?
love how every album era theres one character like this with kanye who then just disappears when next album era start
none of them were the highlight of his shows though
